Rochester and Panthers lock up affiliation

Posted June 19, 2008

Today, the Florida Panthers made final their agreement with the Rochester Amerks to extend the two teams' affiliation for the next three years.

The Amerks also signed a deal to play at Rochester's Blue Cross Arena for the next three years.

http://rochesterhomepage.net/content/fulltext/?cid=17701

These deals come as no big surprise. What does it all mean for the Blades, though?? Fewer NHL prospects in Estero; more reason for the Blades to sign more guys to ECHL deals this offseason.

Last year, the Blades had seven Panthers prospects on their playoff roster and two Canes prospects. Expect those numbers to both be at around two next year -- although it does depend if Rochester and/or Albany (Canes' AHL affiliate) make the playoffs. But don't expect many NHL prospects in Estero during the regular season ... at least on a regular basis.

Speaking of more Blades signings this offseason, I'll be back with some new player names sometime soon ...

ANGIE,
Where did you come up with that number of "potential" prospects playing for the Blades this season...

CUBBUC,
Once AGAIN your Team came up short, mabe in 2025 the CUBS will finally win....

Dual affiliation or no dual affialation.... This has been a topic for yrs. on this blog. Either way is fine with me, for the most part.

I wish there were not quite as many contracted players but if we have a lot of non contracted players and players start getting injured there are not a lot of places to turn to for help.

MFH based on your last post you are not a RAYS fan. Might it have something to do with them winning???

One more day of work then I am taking a mini vacation for about 10-11 days. I will be doing some clubbing at the Red Coconut in Orlando (I am leaving that open for you MFH) and you can never go wrong with the Blue Man Group.

CHIP there is a place called The Groove in Orlando as well. You should fit right in. Ages 15-19 welcome....

Time for 4 hrs. of shut eye then my 12hr. day at work then time to PARTYYYYYYY!!!!

Cubbuc- it would appear the MFH curse is alive and well....he shows up for the first game of the series (probably left after 4th inning) Cubs go on to get swept for 1st time this season AND lose Zambrano for atleast a while.

MFH- clear your schedule for next week Friday.

#4 Posted by Chip on June 20, 2008 at 10:04 a.m. (Suggest removal)

No... MFH ... does not have the power for such a curse. It's that darn goat :o( There has to be some way to counteract the curse! Can't wait to see the Cubbies soon in MIA... missing Murton though, oh well.

Amerks and the Panthers have much work ahead of them; both organizations will be extremely interesting to watch ... hoping for the best!

I still think GF can fit into an Amerks coaching position. Cunneyworth's contract is up in August and the Panthers have no interest in him.

Could there be only 1 Florida team in the ECHL next season?

stinkray,
Maybe they can move to PEE DEE and be the Pee Dee Pilots, then your State could have another losing franchise....

APFOY,
Check the hair on your chest, you are sounding more and more like KENT everyday...

chip,
Marlins/D-backs next weekend, hope you can get away...

angie...do you know how many years the blades signed cameron for?

#9 Posted by CJ on June 20, 2008 at 10:19 p.m. (Suggest removal)

MFH- I don't think I'm sounding like some guy especially when I only miss Murton because he's soooooo freakin' cute :o)~ total red headed hottie w/ the essential b-ball bubble butt... His wife is tre's lucky.

Be nice; I am ... no matter how rude u get. Perhaps sacrificing a lawyer would counteract the curse of the goat? But how many lawyers would it take to equal one goat? hmmm.... food for thought.

MFH once again was no where to be found on a guys night out....

Another Black Day tonight at Ricochet. .99 gets you in the door.

Next Sunday is Tantric. This is a must see...

CAMERON: BAUM is on the protected list. Lets all not forget that Cameron accused BAUM of nothing but BS in Beaumont. I would LOVE to see BAUM in a Blades jersey this year. Give the guy a shot if he does not make it fine but give him a shot. It's too bad he will not be here even if he is offered a shot. Why???? Cameron is our new coach.

MFH might be right on this guy folks...

Remember when GF was in Tallahasse and the league busted the Tiger sharks.

If we ever have any coach that might try to get away with something the "used car salesman" is the one.

CSA must have got "tied up" at The Back Door..... LOL

You got us 2 Hammie...try to find a Lou Malnati's Pizza if you want Great Chicago Deep Dish, if not that than go to NUMEROUS PLACES for a True Chicago Italian Beef Sandwich...The Beef/Sausage combo is also good. Don't Leave off the RED SAUCE...if you want any other tips while you are there I can put you in contact with my brother, just send me a Private E-Mail and your dining options, whatever they are, will be addressed...have a good time!

CHI TOWN:
Great Food is a Sausage Link and a Italian BEEF sandwich..

Nothing like FINE cusine.

Heard REED and WOODS "Hooked up" with some college chicks after the game on Tuesday...

MFH was in the CUBS Locker-Room on Tuesday Night at the TROP and this team will fold in September..

MFH...nice try...even YOU couldn't AFFORD The best Restaurants in Chi Town...of which I have been to many..I suggest you stick to The Ritz Carlton Naples...nice Brunch, but the rest of the Menu at the published prices would be LAUGHED at in Chicago...I am not out to IMPRESS HAMMY...and it seems you disregarded the part I gave him about my Brother's help...keep it up if you REALLY want to embarass yourself...I just remembered though...when it comes to the Top Notch Meals in Beaumont Texas...you are all over it...by the way...did you do the Dirty Laundry in The Cubs Locker Room, or were you just there to pass out business cards to the rookies???

#16 Posted by CUBBUC on June 21, 2008 at 8:01 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I figure it was both...you left your calling card in their jocks...also a classy move to act like a printer PAPPARRAZZI as far as the players private lives...if I am a new BLADE this would concern me...is the GREY GOOSE being refilled a bit to quickly or did 10 minutes in a Major League Locker Room... (Big Wow) alter your thinking...by the way...which player took the longest shower...sounds like your kind of info to me...LOL!

#17 Posted by CUBBUC on June 21, 2008 at 8:10 p.m. (Suggest removal)

AB...no wonder he thinks HE can tell YOU what to report on...run...RUN VERY FAST...

#18 Posted by CUBBUC on June 21, 2008 at 8:12 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Thanks for the advice Cubbuc. This weekend is for the son's boot camp graduation. As his Liberty expires at 8:00PM each night and the base is in Waukegan the fine dining restauraunts in Chitown are out this trip. I gone to seveal in the past, though.

Maybe I should have brought Busseyfan's Broom with me to help the cubbies make the sweep tommorrow.

hey MFH where is the confirmation on GF going to the Wolves? Is he going to be the equipment manager?

Thought I'd swing by and see what you folks had to say about the situation in Pensacola, and the continuing deterioration of Southern Hockey. Guess I shoulda known better. LOL

Hope you folks are having a great summer.

Hey RaysRsharp...Looks like the Pensacola owner wants out...I say give him his wish...he is even willing to pay the fine. I am for less teams in the Southeast as far as divisional purposes anyway. Thanks for the visit!

#24 Posted by CUBBUC on June 22, 2008 at 11:20 a.m. (Suggest removal)

CUBBUC the MORE teams in the S.E. the better...

We need teams closer to us. Our closest opponent is who, the Glads???

I remember when we had 5 teams in Florida.

The Mandators, Tigersharks, Lizardkings, Icepilots and the Everblades. It looks like the Blades will be the only team left. Scary very scary.....

#25 Posted by BUSSYFAN on June 22, 2008 at 12:50 p.m. (Suggest removal)

WOWZERS!!!!

Lots of BIG name trades is the NHL draft. I just read yesterdays newspaper and was quite suprised.

The Lightning did get Steven Stamkos which is a start in the right direction after my team totally blew last year. I guess we will see how the new ownership does.

Has anyone seen any articles on who the Lightning's head coach might be next year??? I hope Melrose is still in the running.

I was thinking we were getting closer to hockey season starting again until CHIP reminded me last night that we are still 4 months out. I hate the offseason.

#26 Posted by BUSSYFAN on June 22, 2008 at 1:11 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Bussy

Melrose will be coach. Rick Tocchet will be one of his assistants.

#27 Posted by centerice on June 22, 2008 at 3:42 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Based on the draft--- I see only 2 players that could play for us ( 20 or over ) this season

Cains # 14 C Zach Boychuk

Cats # 190 D Matthew Badkooski
No goalie-----------

HAM the Cubs won with a solo shot by Ramiraz in the 9th. inning. I wonder what Ozzie will say this time that he will regret.

OTTAWA – Goalie Jacob Markstrom claims he was not disappointed, that he slept well into Saturday morning despite not being selected Friday night in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft.
