About a month after he was removed as Barron Collier High School principal, the school’s community finally knows why Ron Miller was suspended and then terminated.
Documents released Tuesday by the Collier County School District show Miller was removed as Barron Collier High School principal after the district determined that he engaged in inappropriate behavior, including sending and receiving pornographic e-mails.
The district said it began investigating Miller after it received complaints of a hostile work environment, said Allun Hamblett, executive director of human resources.
At the end of the investigation, district officials brought six charges against Miller and five were sustained.
The five charges that the district sustained:
-- Miller engaged in sending and receiving inappropriate e-mails from his work computer that were pornographic in nature. They included e-mails he traded with Jennifer Schmidt, a secretary at Barron who’s no longer there, and English department Chairwoman Carolyn Welty.
In one e-mail sent Friday, June 29, Miller talked of subjecting Schmidt to a “pretty thorough body cavity search.”
In another e-mail sent June 29, Welty wrote Miller: “Yes, and all this month I have worked on my body, and I think you will be pleased.”
In another e-mail, a woman district officials have identified as not working for the district sent Miller a photo of herself that revealed her breasts.
-- He was alone in his office on multiple occasions during and after school hours with female employees and encouraged such behavior.
“You can see a pattern in the e-mail where he would be at the school after hours and meet with them,” Hamblett said.
-- Miller interviewed one of the women in the inappropriate e-mails for a position at Barron when he wasn’t allowed to do so because she wouldn’t have reported to him.
“When someone interviews for a job, their direct supervisor does the interviews and never alone. We encourage a team approach. When we asked him about the interview, there were no notes available. There were no notices of an appointment,” Hamblett said.
-- He investigated a sexual complaint against a faculty member at Barron but there was no evidence of the complaint. By investigating such a complaint on his own, he placed the district at a legal risk, school officials said.
-- Miller was evasive and perhaps untruthful with investigators about the circumstances at Barron Collier.
A sixth charge that wasn’t sustained was that he wrongfully touched a female employee who no longer is with the district. School district officials said they found no evidence to sustain the allegation but could reopen the issue if they could find evidence to sustain it.
“Clearly this is inappropriate conduct involving an administrator at the high school,” said Hamblett, who conducting the investigation. “The types of behavior we expect from students and from our faculty were violated here.”
Hamblett said the district made its decision after receiving complaints, looking into the e-mails and interviewing Miller and Schmidt.
Hamblett said the district has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to sexual harassment or creating a hostile working environment. He also said Miller clearly violated the district’s e-mail policy.
“It is at the bottom of all of his e-mails to these women,” he said.
The policy reads, “Pursuant to School Board policy and administrative procedures, this e-mail system is property of the School District of Collier County and to be used for official business only. In addition, all users are cautioned that messages sent through this system are subject to the Public Records Law of the State of Florida and also to review by the school system. There should be no expectation of privacy.”
Hamblett said while the messages are sexually suggestive in nature, the district didn’t find evidence that Miller had sexual relations with any of the women while on Barron Collier’s campus.
The Collier County School Board voted last Thursday to terminate Miller, who took over at Barron Collier High School after former Superintendent Ray Baker left the school for an administrative position.
Miller made $103,065 a year, according to the School District.
Longtime educator and former Naples High School Principal Gary Brown has been named interim principal of Barron Collier High.
Miller will challenge that the district had a right to terminate him. The district received a letter from Mark Herdman, Miller’s attorney, requesting an administrative hearing to challenge suspending Miller without pay and his termination.
The School Board’s attorney said the board has the right to suspend Miller without pay pending a ruling on the administrative hearing from the judge.
Attempts to reach Herdman were unsuccessful Tuesday.
Hamblett said no punishments have been brought against Welty or Schmidt, but added the investigation is not complete.
“We are not done with the second phase,” he said. “We had enough information to move forward with the charges against Mr. Miller, and we have removed the individual from the school. There are other issues we are exploring.”
Hamblett said Schmidt has been removed from the school, but said she still is working in the Collier County School District.

So if I send Dennis Thompson a pornographic email, will he get fired too?
#2 Posted by Ironside on December 18, 2007 at 2:26 p.m. (Suggest removal)
So people send him e mails....and he gets fired? If he in fact sent some...how many and what type? Not much detail there.
Did he get porno pics and respond with verbiage? If so, he chose to hang himself...but should have been counseled not fired.

they should spend the money on teachers rather than wasting it on this, a well respected principal goes down for a guy who is trying to re-invent the wheel!! real hard to comprehend.
who's next?

Too funny Ironside :)
Neez, my spouse is in IT and there is software to filter for certain things.....the story is pretty wild though.

This is stupid. If he didn't touch a student, who cares. Adults can do what they want with other adults, grow up. May the district should focus on more important things.

So Thompson is at it again -- his true calling -- firing an employee!!!! Getting revved up to clean house??? Good work Dennis, and perhaps your time will come soon. If charges against Miller can be trumped up, so can charges against others.

Wait till the lawyers get wind of this conduct at a school and lawsuits will reap fortunes for women who were "abused." Remember, the taxpayers have the deepest pockets for lawyers to put their hands into!
#8 Posted by rtsspeaks on December 18, 2007 at 2:49 p.m. (Suggest removal)
The operant word is SENDING. "Miller engaged in sending and receiving inappropriate e-mails that were pornographic in nature."
Most any form of tax supported employers require employees to sign a document acknowledging that they can be dismissed for certain causes including the misuse/abuse of email or the internet. For those with a contract this bit of legality can be either in the contract itself or a separate writing.
Many such employers use special filters which trap emails or limit internet use. It sounds as if a complaint may have started this investigation, however.
Why does that matter? Well, the taxpayers pay the salary and we are entitled to someone who can focus on the job and not violate rules.
#9 Posted by BlueTonguedVole on December 18, 2007 at 2:51 p.m. (Suggest removal)
Now that would be funny if the new superintendents e-mail was flooded with pornographic pictures.
#10 Posted by leneggs on December 18, 2007 at 2:58 p.m. (Suggest removal)
BTV, no doubt. If Miller actually sent porno pics, he should be fired...but, if he simply responded to e mails he was sent, that is totally different matter.
And, as to sending Thompson e mails....unlike the Board members, he does not publish his e mail on the county web site.
I have known Miller for 6 years. I would be very surprised if the accounts were as described by the County. It is possible...but I would be very surprised.....

You people talking about sending these types of emails just to get someone fired are a disgusting bunch. People should be fired for their actions, and not because they get set up. It takes a real special type of person to ruin someone’s reputation and livelihood just because you don't feel your raise was big enough. Should you start to act upon your childish ventures keep in mind I could be sitting on that jury hearing the case against you when you get caught. I don't like illegals being in this country but you don't see me out there asking people to harm them. Once again it's a wonderful thing to see schoolteachers banding together so blinded by rage over a few dollars that they are willing to break the law to settle a score. Do you not even get the fact it a sense of justice just like yours students use to justify deadly force upon their classmates because they feel slighted? So blinded by rage you are that every action by a board member, or Dr. Thompson is wrong. If Mr. Miller was sending pornographic images from school computers he should be fired. If he is innocent he will win his lawsuit, and the board will owe him an apology. Dr. Thompson did what the law requires him to do in situations like these. After the many teachers that have been caught having sex with their students the public demands zero tolerance of any immoral behavior from people who work with children.

I'm not a moralist so the emails don't bother me but if the principle isn't smart enough to send and receive naughty emails from home on his personal email account then he deserved to be fired.

I agree with floridasteel, I'm normally pretty laid back with my opinions but I'm not sure if I'm hot on the idea of someone charged with the responsibility of my school kids involved with porn especially at work, actually come to think of it, I'm pretty dead set against it.....

if you're still gonna defend this man even after these emails have surfaced, do you really want to take the chance of having someone like this educate your child? what is he really teaching them?
food for thought!

As a parent I don't want this pricipal around my children. The following excerpt to me is very troubling:
He investigated a sexual complaint against a faculty person at Barron but there is no evidence of the complaint. By investigating such a complaint on his own, he placed the district at a legal risk, school officials said;
- Miller was evasive and perhaps untruthful with investigators about the circumstances at Barron Collier.
In my mind these are grounds for firing. As a parent at THIS school, I find this troubling.

Miller was on the time clock engaging in shananigans. He was getting paid to work for the school not to work for his male reproductive organ!
#20 Posted by firefly16 on December 18, 2007 at 4:35 p.m. (Suggest removal)
If this is such a big deal, every principle had better be watching over their shoulder. You'd think Miller was having sex in his office with his secretary or something.
I think reprimanding Miller with a warning would have been justified. But, firing him and ruining his career over some emails? Give me a break. Dennis Thompson must be one hell of a do-gooder.
The kids (for the most part) like Ron Miller. That should account for something.

After reading those emails, from a principal who was sopposed to be safegurading my children and setting an example of morality, I was appalled!
He deserved to be fired! He was being paid to watch over the school and see to it that these kids get the best education possible . He is not paid to be there to engage in Pimp like behavior. We need a principal that sets a good example to these kids.
You people on here that are defending him apparently don't have kids at this school!

Please Dr. Thompson help clean up this mess. Please please to the community help Dr. Thompson do so.
How dare Ron Miller fight this --- unless he is claiming he did not send those emails.
Chatty Kathy you defended Baker and overlooked his coverup of Nelson -- so what do you say about Miller?

As a student at Barron Collier, I am shocked to hear about Mr. Miller and his emails. I believe the emails to be very inappropriate and that the school board should investigate the matter indepthly.
However, "Messina", I also believe that you are wrong to judge the teachers for fighting in "blind rage" for raises that they clearly deserve. How are we expected to keep good teachers in collier county if we are going to pay them next to nothing? These people are educating your children for goodness sake! They are educating the future of our country! and you don't think that they deserve a raise? That is ridiculous. Also, I believe that the teachers are inspiring students to fight for what they deserve, not mearly to fight in "blind rage". I believe that the teachers of our county are very inspiring and deserve the raise that they have been promised in the past. Maybe we should stop paying our school board members and superintedent so much? I mean, these people do not need all the money they are being paid, they have other jobs. Especially a certain board member who did not even get a college education... but I wont mention any names.
And as for Thompson, please leave, you have only caused trouble in our county. I must say, thanks to you Thompson, I cannot wait to leave this county and go to college, the school board is clearly failing in their promises to provide their students with the best education possible, otherwise they would not question block scheduling...

We live in a complete and absolute "Nation of Idiots". After reading the e-mails how can anyone defend this man. This is sick, sick, behavior. I am tired of this crap. First Nelson, then this guy. He should also be investigated as I am sure some criminal laws may have been broken here. I am sick of people defending all these low life scum bags just because they have a job that people deem important. What ever happened to character and honesty. This town has gone completely nuts.

What a moron. He should be fired both for stupidity and his lack of moral ethic. Read the last sentence of the school district disclaimer on the emails... "There should be no expectation of privacy".
How could this idiot not know that his emails would be discovered? And what kind of people do we have mentoring our school children? Who knows what this man was thinking around all the young women. Scary!
What a world... Good thing he's gone before he ruins some child's future.

His home address is public record via the property appraisers office daily_reader. Those who are still defending this principal do so in the wake of some very powerful evidence of breaking a number of state laws.
His behavior cannot be condoned because of the misuse and abuse of government property which is dang clear in the emails so ironically including the disclaimer of being only for official business. "In addition, all users are cautioned that messages sent through this system are subject to the Public Record laws of the State of Florida and also to review by the school system. There should be no expectation of privacy."
Risky business at the tax payers expense and the expense of still impressionable children.
He needs to have his certification stripped. Hopefully he will seek the advice of a mental health professional.
The sad part of seeing flawed individuals in leadership positions in schools is the long term denigration of community standards. Not a good role model.
Considering that in my past career that I investigated outbreaks of diseases which were exacerbated by risky sexual behavior, I am not surprised to see a community leader involved. Many others have been as foolish. Addiction to sex puts people at risk for any number of diseases which are preventable.

-Baker-the enabler
-and finally Miller
Now, is time for the cream to rise back to the top @ Barron--Thank you to all the quality staff/teachers who stuck it out all these years!!!

We always wondered why Carolyn Welty was chairman of the English department. Her students spent their time in AP English watching movies of the classic books and making their own videos of AP vocabulary, also viewed in class. When she wasn't out of town attending conferences, she was in class on her computer (!) leaving the students to their own devices. Our AP student learned absolutely nothing in her class.
Now we know Mrs. Welty was spending time "working on her body" and emailing her own compositions to Mr. Miller.
It's time the administration took classroom instruction seriously, especially for the top students. Get someone in the English department who will actually teach our kids something valuable they can use in college.
Shame on Miller for using work time for salacious pursuits while students went lacking. Of course he should have been fired. And he's not the only one.

Total SHOCK... About Ron Miller..
But, this type of Crud has been happening for many years. Nelson F. was known for things for years.. and Baker didn't do anything about it.. What happend to Baker? He gets a promotion to the Ad. Center and then to Super. Eventhough, he knew about things back when he was a middle school principal and then the same student went to BCHS, who is the principal? BAKER!!!!!!!!!!
Who is on the board supporting all this? NELSON.. Unbelievable, how much politics are wrangled here in Collier County...
Pay the teachers what they deserve and clean out the TAJ.. there is so many stories at that place.. GOD, if the walls could just talk.. I am sure it would make a GREAT SOAP OPERA, or in this case a PORNO MOVIE...
Something every one can be PROUD OF, RIGHT???

When I went to pick up my BCHS freshman this afternoon, I got jumped by a reporter from NBC-2 who wanted to interview me reacting with outrage to some dirty emails. Since the charges against our principal weren't publicized, I told him that I would be happy to give him a comment if he could tell me just what Ron Miller had been accused of, as I had heard a lot of conflicting rumors. When I heard what he said, my first hope was that they had a competent systems engineer looking at this evidence, as email stuff is pretty easily hacked.
Now that I've reviewed what was publicly released, it looks like a hodgepodge of paste up jobs, out of context instant messenger exchanges...I'd be very leery of jumping to the conclusions the superintendent seems to have done. Now, I'm not a network specialist, and I've only reviewed the postings here, those on NBC-2.com, and the stats I could find on http://profiles.yahoo.com/ahi_quin_ku... after doing so I'm even more skeptical that Miller's being treated fairly.
This is going to end up as yet another very expensive venture for CCPS.
Actually, I'm way less upset about a few indiscreet emails between adults--should they in fact prove to be his, which really would surprise me--than I am that someone from Fox 4 was talking to a group of 14-15 yr olds -- including my son -- without parental permission.

What is wrong with some of you people? Every one of us that works has a code of conduct and email rules from the top down. It is extremely explicit and there is ample examples of ee's being fired for this type of behavior.
This is especially disturbing coming from the Principal, the guy is supposed to be setting the tone. How could he possibly retain the respect of those he is supposed to lead with these types of proven mis-steps? And there seems to be evidence that it wasn't just the emails that got him in trouble.
I'm not an extremist but this seems to be pretty cut and dried.

hcguru and BlackCat, he responded to the emails and that abuse is addressed in the FAC as misconduct. I believe it is also a fireable offense.
Every single government agency in this STATE is to abide by the statutes where all communication (except for legal advice in pending litigation) is subject to inspection by anyone. The open record laws only have a limited number of provisions exempting certain sensitive information. One such example: medical records/investigations to protect patient privacy (even before HIPPA) Using an official computer to conduct any private business is pretty much off limits. The messages can easily be traced to his computer. His email account, like anyone else's is passworded. Now if he can show he was not in his office and gave someone his password...etc., Yes, hackers can do a lot to spoof emails, but considering the school board can and did retrieve this information as evidence on their own servers, then it is not likely this was the case. The majority of school districts run on Linux or other non Microsoft networks. Tracing the path of the mail can be done simply without much in the way of forensics.
Now the spelling of the Bui person's name...why is that so odd. Screen names are common and many people do not use their full name. If this Bui person does work for some type of Government agency in Orange county, at least she?he? was smarter by using Yahoo. But even this could be traced. The thought occurred to me that Bui could be a person who set up Miller but that is why I said "he" at all. The fantasies sound more like what guys think than any woman I ever knew! Maybe you all know "those" kind of women! ;D

chrysf56: if you are good at hacking, then maybe I would consider that Miller was framed. But it would be much harder than you think in a setting such as a school district. Prove your skills and then point to someone who could be just as capable. How to demonstrate your knowledge? Well, your could tell us just how you would do such a thing in detail knowing everything about the School districts security settings or involve the NBC-2 or NDN reporters giving them a harmless demonstration of those skills.

BlackCat - if you are a former tech coordinator I would think you know how to read an e-mail. From the bottom up. Not that it matters if he initiated them or not, he responded. Oh did he respond. No one was twisting his arm but himself.
At least the e-mails answer one question. Now we know what was taking up all his time. It explains why there were many (most) classrooms that he only visited once in 6 years.
I just wonder what is going though the minds of those that are still saying that the punishment didn't fit the crime.... personally I think the county deserves some of its money back, makes me sick to think we paid over $100K a year for what we got.
redcarol57 - from you statement on 12/16 - Are you still saying "I might not be surprised by the findings"...? If you are not maybe you knew something we didn't, until now. Hard to defend him now I bet, or are the e-mails faked?
Also, what about the woman Jennifer, who uses the old fashion why to get her jobs..... Shouldn’t she be removed from more than just the school? Shame that you can do what she did, and you don't get fired.

I'm still in shock why we pay these principals six figures. Can you please tell me why they merit such compensation? The governer of Florida makes around 133K a year and i'm pretty sure he has much more responsibility than Ron Miller.
PS:I hope Jennifer Schmidt was smoking hot because otherwise it was not worth losing a 103K job.

StilliWonder:
I knew this much - That Mr. Miller would have never harmed a child or teen; it wasn't in his nature. When working with him he always had their best interests at heart.
He was a gentlemen on the job when I worked with him and yes - I am a very attractive woman, yet he did NOT act inappropriate towards me. He simply would drop by my room and chat briefly and politely.
Please keep in mind that most of the harm that Miller did in this case was to Miller. For that perhaps you could extend a little regard for his very human failings and extend a little mercy. What did Jesus say about those that extend mercy, mercy will be given to as well. You're just sounding like a harsh, self-righteous employee with an axe to grind - I won't rescind that comment from a previous post. He's already paying a very heavy price for his actions, a very heavy price indeed.
However, I don't think the man is a monster. Ted Bundy - no, perhaps Al Bundy, but not Ted Bundy.

redcarol57: so it is OK for someone in a trusted position, making good money to STEAL from taxpayers and be thought of as a "gentleman"???? Duh, misappropriation is misappropriation and he committed a violation of Florida State laws but you are saying that he is NICE so we shouldn't care?
No. When people are put into positions which demand public trust: Physicians, teachers, engineers, architects, principals...etc., they either toe the line or if not and they are caught with hands in our tax money cookie jar...they deserve being fired. It isn't about being harsh. It is the way it goes in public life. Miller worked and accepted the terms of his employment by the contract he signed and the binding document about internet/email use.
By the way, each email bears the fingerprint of the point of origin. Any decent geek with some training can verify authenticity. Miller is not Al Bundy, not Ted, but certainly not someone worthy of working in the position of principal or for any government agency. Perhaps he will reform and become a EEOC Advocate for elimination of sexual harassment in the workplace...better yet he can sell Harleys either the big ones for the street or the little plastic ones he gave out for rewards (h'mmm).

Excuse me bluetongue - did I ever say he shouldn't pay the consequence for his actions??? Mercy comes in many forms, not necessarily giving him a free pass on this.
I think I mentioned that he already was paying a heavy price. And NO, I'm not Pat Carroll. I have no idea who Pat Carroll is. I do not work in the Collier School System and I do not live in Naples.

When you work for the average Joe who pays taxes...mercy is something you don't get when you mess up not something this serious. It is serious.
If you don't live here or work here, what is your interest?
I worked in the service of the public as a professional. My wife does now. We do live in Collier county and the biggest amount of our taxes go to this school district. I am sick of seeing this kind of stuff going on at this district. Too many scandals with too many "professionals" who can't seem to keep it in their pants.
As far as the inappropriate number of emails...well, Fox4 indicates there are thousands of pages. My guess is there are too many to post here.

redcarol57 -
All I can say is that every one has their own experiences. The Ted Bundy reference, though overboard, was merely to point out that even an obviously evil being can appear normal. Therefore, we should be careful of what judgments we pass because they appeared so "good" to us.
I am just a bit concerned about all the comments that he would not have done anything to the students. No one has even implied that. Just the fact that a person in charge of our children could find the need to spend his working hours delving into something like should be enough. The day I hear that he is getting help for his problem I will change my attitude.
Sorry I sound so "bitter" to you. As a parent and a friend to more than a few teachers I really think you need to check around with a few of your co-workers.
What makes me sick about all this is the people that can sit and defend the person and probably never think about the one person who really got the staff in all this, his wife. I guess it shouldn’t matter whether one can trust what their husband is doing at work these days. One more problem with the world today.

Are you totally clueless? Read the e-mails again. He was making arrangements with the woman to meet him after school hours in his office……..

redcarol57,
The fact that you claim on an internet blog that you are "a very attractive woman" leads me to believe that you are actually a 450 pound heffer. What woman other than one who is full of herself or high maintenance calls herself "very attractive" online. mooooo.

StilliWonder:
We are in agreement that if there are 1000 of e-mails to a plethora of women (and it seems there are) that he does need help. It seems that this became an overwhelming preoccupation that seems very unhealthy both mentally and professionally (and probably physically in the long haul).
He is paying a very heavy price both personally and professionally. I hope he gets help with this personal issue because he was a good principal in every other regard save this one tragic flaw.
It's something we fail to see in our personal lives too. We compartmentalize our lives too much thinking our professional lives and personal lives don't touch one another - but they do. Promiscuity is expensive for the Average Joe, yet we wink and laugh when Prsidents, rockstars and actors do the same. They can afford it - never dawns on others that they can't till it's too late.
And yes, I feel bad that this was a hard and bitter lesson for a good administrator to have to learn.

Some where on here someone posted they know it isnt in his nature to harm a child or teen and that he had the best interests of the students in mind.
I disagree. No one knows the true nature of someone else especially when it comes to sex. Only he and his trusty hard drive at home know what his true nature is. So for someone to say he wasnt a danger to students. Who knows for sure.
But one thing is for sure. He already crossed a line..he risked his career over this knowing it was wrong and not allowed by his employer. Hes gone and thats how it should be.
Maybe he will get the help he needs. Im glad he is out of the school system now.

I'm not suprised in the least...well except the Welty part...but then again that would explain the fact that she broke down in tears during my AP English class [which she is incapable of teaching]...her new diamond bracelet given to her by one of her "fellow faculty members" suddenly makes sense... Good Riddance to Miller we should keep real teachers like Mr. Walters & Mrs. Doerr>> AP teachers that actually teach and not waste our time involving us in their nasty affairs. If i wanted to deal with that kind of drama i'd watched MTV...

Being a former student of Barron Collier High School, I was overjoyed to hear of Miller's removal! During my four years under his direction, he rarely made his presence known to the student body. Whether it be his poor decisions or turning his focus in the wrong direction, I can say for a fact that he was NOT entirely popular.
When the girl's basketball team won state the school held a pep rally. It was one of the few times Miller made an appearance. I recall him getting onto the podium to speak and the entire student body of Barron Collier High, boo-ed him. Just goes to show how liked he was.
Regardless of what he did, Barron has been in need of a new principle for a long time. I look forward to hearing of the triumphs of a new principle who has his priorities in order. "Where students come first"

In addition to my previous note:
As a former student of Ms. Welty, I must say that she is long overdue for retirement.
She was, by far, deemed the teacher who taught nothing. She would make the students write papers, give everyone A's and never tell them how to improve their writing skills. Her class was a waste of my time.
Personally, I feel that this is incident is a wake-up call as a time to "weed-out" faculty members.

Dont you get it? This whole "porno" scandal is there to deflect from what is REALLY going on in this District! Thompson is on the hunt, abbott finally has her pit bull, money is being wasted on so many different levels, there's not enough money for teachers to use in the classroom nor receive a RAISE (not a bonus) but THIS is hiding it all now.
It's like Bush's admin. in cahoots with the broadcasting stations: Show britney and anna nicole more so the public doesn't really know what's going on in the White House or in Iraq.

actually, it's quite easy to hack into an email account at CCPS. We could access our emails from Explorer as well. There's a certain way our names are written as the email addy and if you know the guy you can pretty much figure out his password. In fact, when I first started working here, the password was: admin THAT'S CREATIVE. If you didn't bother changing it then everyone knew your password. Then they changed the password to your email address. That took a lot of "hacking" to figure out how to get into emails. I changed mine right away, but many people didn't.
So, it's not that hard to hack a CCPS email. Even Donovan could do it! (oops, did I say that? It's late and I apologize)

My suave Miller screwed up big time. Looks to me they have proved he was in the wrong. Now they need to get a good principal in there that cares about the kids and put that school right. BCHS has had enough bad publicity over the years and it's time to straighten out for THE KIDS. I really feel sorry for what the kids have to go through because of Miller's stupidity.

Let’s see, Jennifer Schmidt gets reassigned to another school. Carolyn Welty still has her job. Ron Miller gets fired. Hmmm! Did Ron Miller use poor judgment? Yes. Was he wrong? Yes. But, I don’t think he deserves to get fired. I think this is way overblown. He should be reprimanded, but not fired. None of us are perfect. All of us deserve second chances. Ron Miller shouldn’t be an exception. All you do-gooders need to get off of your high horses!

Eww...wonder if he patted anyone on the back?

When I posed the question of the spelling of nguyen's name, I implicitly endeavored to clarify whether or not there is any evidence that this person, "nuegn bui" really exists?
If one accesses google:
"Your search - "nuegn bui" - did not match any documents"
Upon spelling the name correctly, however, (nguyen bui) one retrieves thousands of entries.
I seek Miller's response to the allegation that these salacious email messages were sent by him to someone lacking an internet identity.

BlackCat - if you are a former tech coordinator I would think you know how to read an e-mail. From the bottom up. Not that it matters if he initiated them or not, he responded. Oh did he respond. No one was twisting his arm but himself.>>
When I made my original post I hadn't read the email, just the description of it. I don't have the stomach for that kind of stuff. Now that I have, I see that firing him was the proper response.
Can you imagine what he would have done to a student found sending email like that?

After reading those emails on NBC2 website, I do not feel at all comfortable having a principal like Miller being around my kid at that school.
Who knows what he is thinking about while looking at those kids. While he was goofing off getting paid over a 100 grand a year. my kid was receiving an inadequate education because this principal was too busy goofing off in his office with his porn ladies to see to it that the problems with the educational instruction at this school was corrected.
This man has no place in the school with my kid or anybody elses'. Hats off to Thompson for having the guts to do the right thing.

Welty and Schmidt need to be placed on administrative leave and then fired.
Any student reading the emails now knows enough to want to stay at least 100 feet away from Welty at all times.
Any TEACHER who can still support Ron Miller after reading those e-mails should also be fired.
Why do we allow predators or their supporters or their enablers to be anywhere near our children?
Wasn't NELSON enough?

OK, just read the emails. Guy has to go. If for nothing else, for being a complete imbecile for doing this on a public email system. Not to mention the teacher and FL ee code of ethics. How could he possibly be a role model for teachers and students?
Lastly, it would appear obvious that whatever position that Jennifer was interviewing for was being offered to her because of sexual favors. That can not be allowed and any of you bozos on here saying they wouldn't care is a liar. If you lost that job and were better qualified and found out that Jennifer got the job because of her relationship with Miller, you'd be talking to an attorney before you left the building.

The parents of this school and any other school in Collier county need to read these emails.
http://www.nbc-2.com/News/documents/0....
I now know why some of the persistent educational problems at Barron Coller were overlooked, it was because someone making over 100 grand a year was presenting himself as an extremely poor role model to these kids by goofing off in his office. While he was busy with immoral activities in his office he was neglecting the safety of all these kids in this school. Instead of focusing on saftey and education for these fine kids, Mr Miller was focused on porn. I am so glad we have someone like Mr thompson who was smart enough to do the right thing.
Mr miller would be a fool to fight this. We do not want someone like him around our kids.

You gotta love some of the early posters on this story who were bleating about how great a guy Miller is and he can't possibly be guilty of anything. Now that the facts are out, kinda makes you want to make a mental note for future reference when they write something again so you can determine perspective.

Thank the Lord? For what? Dennis Thompson handled this in the wrong way. He ruined Mr. Millers career for something ridiculous. Not only did Thompson ruin Mr.Millers career, he probably just completely messed up his personal life as well.
Way to go, Superintendent, show no emotion for human beings. Emails are very easy to hack, there's no proof that Miller was the one who typed them or that they even came from his email account in the first place.
Miller didn't touch any of the students, so give it a rest. He ran the school well, there weren't very many fights, no one ever got shot, so give it a rest. Figure out a way to improve Lely, not Barron.

I still want to hear Mr. Millers side of the story... In a court of law, criminals have the right to defend themselves.
Why is Mr. Miller crucified before defending himself?
This looks more like another set up from Mr. Thompson...
How come we have not suspended the School Board member for his sexual harrassment complaint by a news reporter?
He has never done anything to hurt any of our kids at Barron Collier.. what he does behind close door is not of our business.
