Site preparation and fill work has begun at Mercato, a 53-acre residential and commercial community at U.S. 41 and Vanderbilt Beach Road in North Naples.
The community’s anticipated opening date is winter 2008, according to Kevin Caffrey, director of corporate communications for The Lutgert Companies, which is developing the site with The Barron Collier Companies.
The center will include 175 residences priced from the $500,000s to more than $1 million, about 330,000 square feet of retail space, 100,000 feet of office space and a 60-room boutique hotel.
Whole Foods Market will anchor the center’s retail space in a 50,000-square-foot store, along with an 11-screen premium theater, seven restaurants and national fashion and home retailers.

WOW!!!! Just what we need - more development. And there must be so much money in the project that Mr. Lutgart will be able to buy a fleet of Rolls' @ $2m/vehicle at the January 2009 NWWF.

Oh yeah, just what we need--more overpriced homes for the rich and not so famous and another "boutique" hotel. What the heck is a "premium" theater?
Oops, I think they forgot to use one of their favorite words in this article--UPSCALE.
