A firm that was heavily criticized by Bonita Springs officials for its late finish on the U.S. 41 widening project is on budget and a month ahead of schedule on a widening project along Immokalee Road.
Collier County commissioners, who recently have learned of a string of late finishes and cost overruns with road projects, lauded Astaldi Construction Corp. on Tuesday after learning the news in an update on the widening project.
The firm is widening from four to six lanes a segment of Immokalee Road from Interstate 75 to Collier Boulevard.
"I can tell you I am really impressed with the movement of this project," said Commissioner Tom Henning, noting that he even heard a complaint from a resident that workers were doing widening work on Saturday. "I encourage this company to move forward as they are doing, and I would hope that other road contractors would take note of your progress."
The good news was something commissioners had not heard in a long time.

And they kissed the bottom of AS_taldi and kissed it and kissed it...mmmm so much that it was enough to gag a horse. As_taldi kissed back and it got graphic. Dang. Commissioners, fine tell 'em they are doing well, but don't give it all up until they are done.
A little Astaldi kissing goes a LONNNNNNNNNNNNG way.
