The clubhouse for Hamilton Harbor Yacht Club members recently opened on the southern end of Naples Bay, just minutes from Gordon Pass.
The Old Florida-style clubhouse offers members a unique waterfront experience. The clubhouse design was inspired by its site, according to lead architect Mike Ramsey.
“The site thrust the clubhouse into the bay and created breathtaking views from every angle,” said Ramsey, vice president of Architectural Design Group. “So we chose an octagonal shape to maximize these views.”
The rustic features and finishes of the clubhouse give it the look of Old Florida. Exterior details include an embossed metal roof, copper downspouts, clear cypress banisters, and coquina shell pedestals.
“Our goal was not to be flashy, but to create an image of durability, permanence and quality,” Ramsey said.
Inside, cypress floors and ceiling, a vintage fishing rod display and a collection of historic photographs continue the Old Florida theme.
“We studied every detail, from the design of the brackets that hold the ceiling beams to the choice of wood for walls, floors and ceiling,” said interior designer Bob Fransisco of Image Design Inc.
“We wanted the clubhouse to evoke the same relaxed atmosphere found in Southwest Florida's classic waterfront clubs like Useppa Island and the Rod and Gun Club in Everglade’s City,” said Christian Spilker, Collier Enterprises’ vice president.
Members in boat shoes and shorts are perfectly welcome, according to general manager Jack Sullivan.
“You can wear your blue blazer, of course, but it’s not required,” Sullivan said. “We want members to have a relaxed, informal waterfront experience – provided with the highest standards of quality and service.”
The club’s social and slip members will enjoy a full range of amenities and activities at the clubhouse, like waterfront dining, social and educational events, or just sipping a sunset cocktail on the deck. A full-time activities director will also lead nautical and nature programs, including boating rendezvous, fishing tournaments, guided eco-tours and backwater kayaking.
The clubhouse will serve lunch daily Tuesday through Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and a light bar menu will be available from 3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. On Friday and Saturday, a full dinner menu is available from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The completion of the clubhouse is just one of the opening milestones at Hamilton Harbor Yacht Club. The concrete boathouse, built to withstand winds up to 150 mph, will be ready for occupancy in May and the public fuel dock at Hamilton Harbor will be open for business beginning Memorial Day weekend.
Located less than 10 minutes from Gordon Pass, Hamilton Harbor Yacht Club offers wet slips for boats up to 60 feet, dry storage for boats up to 50 feet, concierge services and waterfront dining. Social memberships are also available. For more information, visit www.hamiltonharboryachtclub.com.
