NAPLES Well that was easy.
After 11 months of nasty mudslinging by his opponents and their supporters, including being accused of breaking election laws and unethical campaigning, Kevin Rambosk was elected in a landslide Tuesday night to be the next sheriff of Collier County.
Because there are no independent or Democratic candidates in the race, Rambosk doesn’t have to compete in November’s general election.
When he takes the helm of the agency in mid-January to begin a four-year term, Rambosk will be the first new Collier sheriff in 20 years, taking over for outgoing Sheriff Don Hunter, who was first elected in 1988.
Running on a 30-year record as a law enforcement officer and government official in Collier County, including stints as Naples police chief, Naples city manager, and Collier undersheriff, Rambosk won 74.3 percent of the vote in Tuesday’s primary election.
He garnered 27,715 votes, by far the most of any Collier candidate on the ballot.
“I never thought it was going to be a close election,” Rambosk said. “You’ve got to bring qualifications to the community for them to consider.”
Over the course of the campaign, Rambosk, 53, said the accusations made against him by his opponents, private investigator Victor Ortino and local businessman Vinny Angiolillo, were baseless.
“Campaigning is new for me, but I can tell you something very, very clearly,” Rambosk said. “We have run a professional, innovative and positive campaign all the way through.”
Of the 197,716 registered voters in Collier County, only 37,813 ballots were cast in Tuesday’s primary - less than 20 percent.
“It wasn’t what we projected, which was 20 percent,” said Gary Beauchamp, chief deputy supervisor at the Collier County Supervisor of Elections Office. “But it was better than 2006, which was 18 percent.”
Rambosk celebrated his victory with supporters, many of them Sheriff’s Office employees, at the Naples Heritage Golf & Country Club in East Naples.
Drinking wine and beer, and munching on sandwiches, pizza and chicken wings, Rambosk supporters got down to funky tunes like “Ice Ice Baby” by Vanilla Ice and “Bust a Move” by Young MC.
The crowd cheered around 7:25 p.m. when absentee ballots and early voting results were released, showing Rambosk with 77 percent of the vote and a comfortable lead.
“We are the Champions” by Queen blared over the loudspeakers.
“Better than I thought,” said Hunter, who endorsed Rambosk to succeed him. “I thought it would probably be in the 67 percent range, so this is excellent news.”
John Rossi, a lieutenant with the Sheriff’s Office’s gang unit, said he predicted a landslide all along.
Rossi said he was working in the Naples dispatch center when Rambosk was first hired as a police officer in 1978. Rambosk came in the dispatch center on his first day of work wearing wire-rim glasses, and Rossi said even then that he could tell Rambosk was a man of character and integrity.
“He asked me where he could pick up his uniform. He was ready to go to work,” Rossi said.
Since announcing his candidacy in October, Rambosk focused on his experience and qualifications. At one debate he said that neither of his opponents had “been in law enforcement long enough to know how contemporary police agencies run.”
Ortino, who predicted a close election, won about 20 percent of the vote, followed by Angiolillo with about 5 percent.
Angiolillo said before the election that he expected to win about 70 percent of the vote, and wouldn’t count out contesting the election.
“I think Rambosk probably pulled a lot of shenanigans, and I’m concerned about that,” said Angiolillo, who campaigned Monday on the back of an elephant. “That’s something the voters have to deal with now and the taxpayers.”
Questions about qualifications dogged Ortino and Angiolillo throughout the campaign.
Neither had worked in law enforcement in nearly a quarter of a century, with Ortino resigning from the Florida Highway Patrol in 1985 and Angiolillo last working as a Connecticut state police officer in the 1970s.
Ortino celebrated Tuesday night with his supporters at the Hawthorne Suites off of Pine Ridge Road. After thanking people who voted for him and contributed to his campaign, Ortino said “we made a good showing and won in our own way.”
“We brought our points out,” Ortino said. “We brought out that there’s problems in the agency. We made Kevin aware what they were, and hopefully he can work on fixing that.
“I want to congratulate him, too. He ran a good campaign.”
Rambosk, who resigned from the Sheriff’s Office in July to avoid running afoul of a federal election law, said he was ready to get back to work.
“I’m hoping to get back by the end of the week,” Rambosk said, “in whatever role the sheriff decides is appropriate for me.”

Well, it was not as close as we all thought it would be. Interesting how fear, intimidation, money, illegal aliens, illicit (and forced) sexual activity, cover-ups, stonewalling (ignoring) public records requests, and the list goes on and on seem to be what the voters here want. Interesting indeed.
Not to worry however. Many of us myself included will continue to watchdog the sheriffs department and the goings on in the department. There is so much there to uncover and bring to light.
We all hope that the sheriff elect (who was forced to resign from office or face federal prosecution) will be better than the current sheriff and make the needed changes and address the current issues that have been left unaddressed for far too long. We hope but come on, does anyone thing the status quo will change?
Ortino, you put up a good, a great fight. You educated so many of us about the department. Your efforts will NOT be forgotten. See you in four years?

What a terrible disappointment and a sad day for our community. Congrats to the new sheriff-elect. I hope you will turn out better than your campaing and better than many of your supporters. Dirty and unfair to say the least. Ortino took the high road. I have learned a lot since getting involved in this race and will continue like the poster above to watch the sheriff and the departments actions.
I just do not trust them.

As gracious as Ortino's concession was, I would have expected more from W_Coyote. My mistake. Expecting him to rise above and not let this election define him was unreasonable I now see.
Remember, if you keep picking at your scab it will leave a nasty scar.
Cheers and good night.

Wasn't as close as "we all" thought it would be?!? Yeah, "we all"...
The only real disappointment is that the Ortino bloggers are still at it. Can we get a break now? Give it a rest? Thank you!
Again, congratulations to the new Sheriff, Kevin Rambosk. The voters weren't fooled, except for a few. This is a good day for Collier County.

W_Coyote/Andy you should be more concerned that the last check Victor wrote to you doesn't bounce. You make a good retired naval officer but a poor campaign manager. Come back with Vic in 4 years and we'll beat you two again. You can't polish a sneaker and Vic is a sneaker.

Congratulations to the new C.C.Sheriff Kevin Rambosk, and to Sheriff Mike Scott of LCSO. The people of both counties have spoken loud and clearly. They want Education, Experience, and Integerity, over erroneous accusation's, and bull--it. Both Rambosk, and Scott have master's and Bachelor degree's. Both also have many years experience in local Law Enforcement, as well as many other qualifications for the position, and both are more than capable of doing the job. And congrats to Sheriff Hunter, on a long career with the CCSO.

Correct me if I'm wrong and I very well may be.
But doesn't Rambosk winning mean we're pretty much going to have the same things going on as we did when Hunter was sheriff? If so, that's not in any way a good thing, and if i'm wrong (which I admit I may be) i'd like to hear why.

"Of the 197,716 registered voters in Collier County, only 37,813 ballots were cast in Tuesday’s primary - less than 20 percent." .....Sad that with two weeks of 8 hours to vote a day that this is the most interest we can generate and the best we can do in this county....."kudos", though to all of our candidates, they each and everyone pulled out all the stops....we as voters dropped the ball. Evidently those who cared the most, spoke the loudest, and that is what, in the end, is all that counts! Everyone else has no right to say a thing when they are unhappy about how these people who were elected by volunteer voting over two weeks of time, (ample opportunity for even the biggest procrastinator), does their job! Let's hope we can get out in November and uphold one of the last rights we have in this country!

#20 Posted by Bramble on August 27, 2008 at 6:07 a.m. (Suggest removal)
If you are in law enforcement, sooner or later you will make enemies. Don Hunter did. So did former Sheriff Rogers and so will Kevin Rambosk. But what we have to thank all of them for (Kevin included, when he served the City of Naples for all those years) is a safe community. If you don't think Collier County is safe for law-abiding citizens, try Miami for awhile. Even though there was concern that the Latino vote would go for Ortino, I guess many of the people who voted for Kevin already have experience with Miami and that's why they're here.

Be gracious winners. And for those who did not win, be gracious also. Name calling, etc., is not a good thing. The winners who are name-calling show what will continue unless their candidate gets them under control or fires them.
Congratulations to all the winners.

Now that Rambutt won and the election is over, maybe the deputies can get back to work!
Watch out people. Now that the deputies don't have to campaign and blog for Rambutt they will be out writing hundreds of U-turn and stop sign violation tickets.
Gee, I feel so much safer knowing the bloated bureaucracy of CCSO will continue with Rambutt.
Yuk, my wallet just got thinner

Well I for one am glad this is over. However, we as a community must realize that we must live with what we buy. To the winners, congradulations. To the non-winners, look at the turnout. It was low. The poster above is correct in that out of the almost 198,000 people registered to vote, only 30 something thousand voted. This is pure apathy and occurrs when the majority of the population is disgusted with whatevers in place at the time. Its clear to most of us. Yes, it is time for a change but it wont happen now. To the poster above who likes to name supporters and trash them. You should look in the mirror Carolyn or Bridget, whichever one you are and realize that it doesnt matter that 26K people voted for Kevin. There are approximately 172,000 still out there that either dont care or dont want Kevin as Sheriff. They STILL know the truth. It is disgusting, but they had a chance to change the situation and didnt. They have only themselves to blame for the continued corruption, arrogance and other problems. They will continue. Respect must be earned and not bought by fear or bullying. Some day you will learn. As for the Ortino supporters, thank you for your support of our candidate. We did try to make things better. Maybe next time. Good day.

ccso_id-just because 170,000+ didnt vote doesnt mean they didnt want Rambosk. Naples is notrious for low turnouts, regardless of what the election is for. Unfortunalte most people just dont give a crap
#26 Posted by trehuger on August 27, 2008 at 8:15 a.m. (Suggest removal)
I think there was low voter turnout, because the end result of the sheriff race was obvious to most people. Kevin Rambosk was the only real candidate running for C.C. Sheriff. The other two were non candidates, and had little or no real experience or qualifications, for the position they were running for.
#27 Posted by signalzero on August 27, 2008 at 8:19 a.m. (Suggest removal)
I don't know any of the candidates nor did I really care to endorse one over the other. What I did do was look at each candidates qualifications, education, work experience, and tenure in law enforcement. Much the way I would review an applicant applying for a position with my company, I would want to hire the most experienced and qualified person on my team. After doing some research it became very clear to me who was the most qualified candidate of Sheriff and I'm happy to see I wasn't the only one who thought so.
#28 Posted by TSOL on August 27, 2008 at 8:25 a.m. (Suggest removal)
AS for having the same old thing as Hunter- is that such a bad thing? Crime is way down, just watch the news, seems like everyother night there is a shooting in Lee County or a robbery or something. I think the budget is worth the saftey.

ccso_id,
I am sorry. I can't resist.... What happened to the "hundreds" of CCSD members/ deputies who were voting for Ortino because they were so miserable with the administration?
I called my neighbor last night after Ortino's concession and he explained that there was a big sigh of relief among the troops working the road that they would not be working for your candidate. Your whole angle has been based upon a lie. Please, you and Coyote give it a rest.
#30 Posted by TruthHurtz on August 27, 2008 at 8:46 a.m. (Suggest removal)
#29 I'd say the low crime is more the result of not having a real ghetto anywhere, the low income not having anywhere affordable to live and keeping the illegal community employed. Not so much overzealous traffic police. Notice that crime got worse when the construction jobs started drying up?
#22 Funny you said that. This morning I saw 2 sheriffs simultaneously turn on the flashers and go in different directions. Funny because the only cars around were at the red light sitting there?

They should certainly be gracious winners but... your antics have provoked a sense of outrage that will not be easily calmed. You don't get to poke them with a stick and then sit down and cry foul when you get bitten. You don't get to have it both ways. Get used to it.
After losing in such unclimactic fashion, I think silence would be your best option. Consider it a time-out.

Well I am glad to finally have this election over with. First of all congratualtions to Mr Rambosk on his win.
Although I am not entirely on board on with Mr Rambosk's management style I truly believe that he will be an improvement over Hunter.
I think that most will find that Rambosk will work to make the sheriff's office more user friendly and a little more open about some things. I base this mainly on how he ran the Naples Police Department. He did work hard to get the community involved and opened communications between the community and the officers. During his command there the NPD was probably at it's finest overall. I only hope that he will do that again with the CCSO.
He has a lot of work ahead of him. Along with the many good people empoyed at CCOS there are some factions of the CCSO that do need to be addressed. I hope he is open to looking at ways to improve the over all operations at CCSO.
I was not elated at the poor voter turnout. Hard to believe that so many did not take the time to vote in an election this important. They have made it so easy to vote now between mail in ballots and early voting there is no real excuse for that kind of poor voter turnout.
Now I ask is that everyone please let's be civil to one another and move on to the next election.

Congratulations to Sheriff Kevin Rambosk! There is a lot of work to be done at CCSO and change is definitely coming, although it will take time. Sheriff Scott is still making changes and he is getting ready for his 2nd term. Give Sheriff Rambosk and his deputies a chance before all the bashing and complaining begin. For those who complain about the number of traffic citations written, pay attention to the road, stay off the cell phones while driving and you probably won't ever have a problem with CCSO. P.S. - If you do drive slow, stay in the right lane!

I am absolutely disgusted with this clean campaign crap that is being blathered about the Ortino camp. I happen to know for an absolute fact that he went to one of his supporters and asked for more money. When Ortino was told he was already given all that was allowed by law, Ortino asked this person to give him another donation in the name of one of this person's employees. Yeah, real honest.
Thank goodness Rambosk won. He is the only one of these three with the qualifications to run the Sheriff's office.
#40 Posted by doggoneit on August 27, 2008 at 11:07 a.m. (Suggest removal)
Lets set the records straight:
To W_Coyote, Rambosk would NEVER have faced charges. Why don’t you really read the paper and understand the Hatch Act. Why don’t you open your eyes and ears and realize he did what was right, based on the varied “legal opinions” from the state… as did many other Sheriff member’s running for elected office did throughout the state. Also just to educate you a little more there is no Sheriff’s Department it is the Sheriff’s Office. Ortino did run a good campaign, can’t argue with anyone who decides to take their shot at an elected position; it is expected. He’s welcome back in 4 years, but unless he quits his job and becomes a real police officer or deputy… he doesn’t stand a chance.
To Nevercareb4, it is an insult to say that supporters for Rambosk were “dirty and unfair”. Many who supported him were from within the agency, and they are those that put their lives on the line for you every day, and have risked much to keep you safe. You talk of the “high road”, we’ll you’re certainly on the dirt road. You should politic the issues not the people.
To Volochine, your comment is just plain STUPID.
To iwgulf, tell me what makes you think that the deputies weren’t working? My son nearly lost his life by someone who ran a stop sign… What do you think, people who run through stop signs deserve a break? Are you some kind of nut? Red light runners KILL PEOPLE, so do DRUNKS to think that the Sheriff should not enforce traffic then you should move to Miami, or Lee County… Maybe you’d enjoy life there. Just make sure you protect yourself from drive by shootings, and the other issues those counties put up with that Collier is safe from because these deputies do such a good job. PS if your wallet is getting thinner, then you need to drive more responsibly.
This county deserves a LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER to be the Sheriff, not a limo driver, not a PI. Vic’s a nice guy, but not qualified to be Sheriff. I’ve known Vic since he was a FHP Trooper, and I have seen him hire the drudge from the Sheriff’s office many times over. See you in four years Vic if you want to run again, but look for even worse results.
Congrats to the most qualified candidate…. Sheriff Kevin Rambosk
#41 Posted by Deuce on August 27, 2008 at 11:09 a.m. (Suggest removal)
Deuce,
I have to disagree with you on something. Lee County DOES enforce traffic and many other laws. Look at how many Collier residents get busted in Lee, (you know they have the drugs with them in Collier, so why can't/won't Collier bust them?)and look at the illegals Lee County has busted (working for a Collier company). So please refrain from insinuating Mike Scott and his deputies don't enforce the laws. Mike does a heck of a job and talk about a landslide/blow out victory....They're saying it could be the biggest margin ever.

I would really like to know why some of these blogs state that Hunter is a bad Sheriff? We live in one of the safest counties in the state. We have some of the most dedicated men and women working under Hunter. There are bad apples everywhere. It appears to me they are dealt with properly. They are either ask to resign, terminated, put on probation and/or given unpaid time off. How does this make Hunter a bad Sheriff? I think the election shows, the people who care enough to vote, want to continue to live and work in a safe community. Good luck Sheriff Hunter. Good luck Sheriff-elect Rambosk.

#33 You saw 2 sheriffs simultaneously turn on the flashers and go in different directions and all the cars at the intersection were just sitting there? Have you every considered that:
(1) CCSO patrol cars have radios and computers by which they receive calls for assistance which requires them to respond.
(2) Believe it or not but in Collier County there is sometimes more than 1 call for assistance at differant locations. That is why we have more than one patrol car.
Last but not least, Congratulations to Sheriff Rambosk. The majority has spoken and they want you to lead them. I did my part and voted for you and I will not be dissappointed.

Just a thought
Jeff Lytle says that the public turnout for voting this time was "miserable, a civic embarrassment"
mmmm..
Do you think maybe it could be because of the overwhelming bias that NDN casts over Collier County has anything to do with it? (yes many of us do)
Maybe by letting the public know that there are more candidates out there to vote for, they wouldn't have such a dismal outlook in voting.
Just a thought Mr. Lytle

Rambosk has won. Congratulations. You were NOT my pick, Vinny was mine.
However, not only did I not vote, but I was able to predict Rambosk's victory. Did I use my prediction as a deciding factor to my decision, or lack there of, to vote? Yes.
I also know this, however, George W. Bush's terms have led the nation to literally man handle their desire for change and thus the results of our need for change are obvious. First formally nominated African American presidential candidate, and who would like to bet that Obama wins over McCain? I support McCain, but I feel Obama with his flowing speeches, and almost epic rebuttals, transforms himself from another presidential candidate, to something god-like; something that resembles the great people who brought this country into change, and left this world better place then when they had arrived. MLK, it seems, was only the beginning of the great American transformation.
Point is simple, if collier citizens become equally fed up with the politics of their environment, very little can stop their vast migration towards change. Obviously, for those who voted, change came with a victory for Rambosk.
Congrats, to Rambosk, but now, more than before, he will be tested to see his commitment to change and his role as a servant of the people. Can the winner walk the talk? This is where we get a clear shot at the true character of our newly elected sheriff, Sheriff Rambosk.

It's really funny.
I work for the CCSO and I love the people I work for and with. I have watched all of these blogs from day one and never commented. Here are my two cents on things:
1. There is only a small percentage of ccso members that are unhappy. Those ccso members that are unhappy are the ones that make the news because of the stupid, criminal and immoral decisions. All the citizens that feel there is corruption in CCSO and wanted Ortino makes me laugh. You were endorsing the same candidate that the stupid, criminal and immoral deputies were endorsing. Basically, you would bad mouth the CCSO because of the "bad things" that go on, but then stand next to the actual deputies that did the "bad things" and voted with them. Doesn't make any sense to me. Do your research and look at our bordering counties. I am willing to bet that you will find the same percentage of deputies unhappy with their job and the same percentage of deputies that are stupid, criminal and immoral.
2. It is stated that all we do is traffic enforcement. It is stated that Sheriff Hunter was and is a horrible Sheriff. With that said, I have not been here during Sheriff Hunters entire tenure, however I am not a rookie either. I have been here long enough to know that all Sheriff Hunter wanted was to make Collier County a safe place to live and raise our children. I agree that it is fact that Lee County, Miami/Dade County, Broward County etc have higher populations than Collier County. Think about this however....These are all bordering or close to bordering counties. Take a look at the newspapers. There are shootings, armed robberies, and sexual batteries on a regular basis in these other counties. No disrespect to Sheriff Scott because he has done ONE HELL OF A JOB with Lee County. With that said would you move from Collier County to Lee County???

You may see us in our green and white patrol cars in large numbers. ISNT THAT WHAT YOU WANT? Don't you want to feel safe? I agree that there is alot of traffic citations/traffic enforcement in Collier County. Here is a tip for all citizens that don't want to receive a traffic citation:
DON'T COMMIT A TRAFFIC VIOLATION.
Everyone knows the streets of Collier County are ridiculously crowded with vehicles. When you violate traffic law, accidents happen.
I work midnights and patrol the street like a normal beat cop. While you are sleeping, I am driving past your house to make sure there are no criminals attempting to break in. While your are sleeping, I am driving past your business making sure there are no criminals trying to steal from you. We can't catch everyone, and I think everyone realizes that, however look at the crime statistics from other counties (on a percentage basis) and you will see Collier County is by far one of the safest counties in Southwest Florida to live.
3. Criminal Illegal Aliens. I know this is a big topic of debate. Does everyone realize that Collier County has taken the strides to reduce the Criminal Illegal Alien population. Collier County is not only recognized statewide, but nationwide for our proactive attempts to rid our streets/county of these Criminals. What other county has such an extensive Criminal Alien Taskforce Unit.
I am sure this won't change the outlook on the Sheriff's Office that many of the bloggers on here continue to speak. The only thing I hope to express here is the following:
The majority of deputies that work the streets of Collier County are dedicated, everyday people that serve and protect your families. We love our job and I feel we do it well. I know we will never have the respect or praise from the community like the Fire Department or EMS because occasionally we have to take someone to jail. That person we take to jail is either, you, your significant other, or a family member. You hear about someone you know that went to jail and now we are the devil. Don't get me wrong, it is OUR JOB to put people who commit crimes into jail. It is not our only function. I love to just drive around and talk with people. I do it on a regular basis.

I think that was a little more than 2 cents and if you took the time to read this long post, thank you.
I am going to end this with one last thought. To all citizens:
If you are out with your children in public and your see a deputy in uniform please say hello. Most will stop and talk to you. However, PLEASE DO NOT TELL YOUR KID, YOU BETTER BEHAVE OR I AM GONNA HAVE THE POLICEMAN ARREST YOU. I think if you talk to any deputy they will have the same feeling. You are instilling fear of the police into your young children at a young age. We are not to be feared. As I said earlier, I have children, I live in Collier County, I am an everyday citizen that drivers a green and white car with lights on top, because it is my job.
If anyone has any questions for me, feel free to email me at ccsomember@gmail.com. Please don't ask me anything that you know I can't or wouldn't answer as I won't respond.

It's typical to beat up on the lame duck. Don Hunter has worked hard and sacrificed much to make CCSO the modern, efficient, progressive agency that it is. What does he get for it? Accusations that he has done a poor job. I am proud to have worked for Don Hunter during his entire tenure as Sheriff because despite the critic's claims, he has done a GREAT job. Thank God Kevin Rambosk is here to be our next GREAT Sheriff who, like Don Hunter, will do what is right, what is just, and what is necessary to make Collier County a safe place to live. Long live truth and justice.

CONGRATULATIONS SHERIFF-ELECT KEVIN RAMBOSK!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR DEDICATED SERVICE,
SHERIFF DON L. HUNTER
I have been a resident of Naples for only six years. I have observed the Collier County Sheriff's Office closely. I have observed the Deputies assigned to road patrol, 24/7. They put their lives in danger every time they report for duty. I have been vary impressed by their professionalisim and courtesy.
Sheriff Hunter began his career as a Deputy. He went up the ranks, and was elected Sheriff in 1988. To those making comments of Sheriff Hunter's lack of professionalisim, ethics, integrity - - - I find it odd, you don't back up what you say with any facts.
SHERIFF-ELECT RAMBOSK is the right man for the job. That is why he earned the support of SHERIFF DON HUNTER.
No doubt, Sheriff Rambosk will implement many of his own policies and programs, and his own managing style. I believe the members of the CCSO will be proud to serve under him, as the majority have been serving under Sheriff Hunter.
Every citizen and tourist of Collier County will benefit by having a Sheriff who will continue insuring the safety of all.
Being in New York, I was not able to cast my vote, I had to go online to the NAPLES DAILY NEWS, and I thank the NEWS for the opportunity to convey my person congratulations to both Sheriff Don Hunter and Sheriff-Elect Kevin Rambosk.

Duece-
Reckless driving is one thing. Ticketing a cautious driver that does the slow role through a stop sign so they can see around the beautification of our roads is another.
CCSO sets traps at stop signs, u-turn signs, road construction low speed limit areas and the result is harassment and a public feeling of coming up against the gestapo. The CCSO is a bloated bureaucracy and Rambutt is the king bureaucrat. He's not worth his salary, nor are the other couple of dozen 6 figured salaried freaks.
I stand by my opinion. You have not changed it. You need to grow up and look outside of your gated yard and privileged tax payer supported family. There's alot of CC out there. You need to open your eyes.

Igulp, only you and the seven other cop haters that blog here feel that way, I see you keep good company. No one is looking to change your stupid opinion; because of people like you the CCSO has supporters and a cheering section. Watch out for the Karma Police gulp.

Mothernature and cowgirl, The only ones nasty on these blogs have been you Ortino supporters when you make thinly veiled allegations of corruption and coverup, and you engage in the character assassination of public honest servants, yet you never once produced any proof. We know that Tony Lauer was supplying you misleading information on fictitious investigations and some open internal investigations about which he was obviously wrong in his assumptions. His actions are criminal because state statute forbids the communication of open internal investigations. He will surely be dealt with.
The Ortino campaign outright lied when in the forums about many of the issues. They lied when they passed out fliers at the voting precincts saying there was no arrest and a cover up in a recent aggravated assault, and they lied when they passed out fliers saying Rambosk was going to "disband" the Youth Relations program in the schools. The truth is that several arrests were make in the aforementioned case and Rambosk NEVER said anything about disbanding the Youth Relations program.
It's good to see that the electorate is not so easily fooled or swayed by empty and sleazy campaign lies.
Ortino if you ran an honest campaign based on the issues and the record, not wide spread character assassination, then you could be proud of your effort. Unfortunately for all of us; you have distorted the truth at every turn. I hope you learned something that my mom taught me a long time ago; Tell the truth, do what's right, and you will never have regrets.
I know people who have known you for years, and they can't believe you stooped to the levels of debauchery that you stooped to. You owe us all an apology.

RAMBOSK WILL DO A GREAT JOB in Collier County!
I'm excited to see what he will bring to the plate as the new SHERIFF!
Congrats- Sheriff -Rambosk Police officer, please tell me that U R off duty as U post.
Thanks 4 doing your job...but don't brag and blog on duty.
Doesn't make the new Sheriff look good if U know what I mean...bloggers are bloggers....and police officers should seperate work posts from news posts.
CONGRATS Rambosk...keep Collier safe!
Great Campaign!

Can't we all just get along? Love thy neighbor? I voted for Vic and I still stand behind his beliefs. He has shown me more than what Kevin has shown (outside of "qualifications").
I believe God puts us in positions/situations for a reason. He is always testing us. I believe Vic's position was to bring out some things that "may have" been/are corrupt in the ccso. I believe Kevin's position is to look into these "accusations" and make right if there is a wrong. I would like to see Kevin do what is morally right and keep the emotional side set apart. Before anyone acts upon something, one should pause and ask one's self - "what is the right thing to do?"
