ESTERO — Former FGCU basketball player Kevin Martin has signed a professional contract with Porto Ferpinta in Portugal. The club was runner-up in the UZO Liga after a seven-game series in the league playoffs last year and has appeared in the finals seven times in the last 12 seasons.
Martin, a native of Maplewood, N.J., also tried out with the NBA’s New Jersey Nets earlier this summer.
Since graduating from FGCU in 2005, Martin has played professionally for the last three seasons with various teams. Martin recently played for the Xion Dukes in Austria.
