Making voting a breeze ...
A starfish to all those wonderful, dedicated, cheerful poll workers.
Judging by the voter turnout this past Tuesday, they may feel their good work goes unappreciated.
Not so.
... and adding up the vote
A starfish to whoever can show the County Collier Supervisor of Elections Office how to count votes and present the results in a straight-up, user-friendly manner.
Problems with both have been going on for too long. It’s not just “one of those things” anymore.
Vinny and the elephant
A starfish or a coconut? What should we give Vinny Angiolillo, the candidate for Collier County sheriff?
At first we thought his braggadocio about being a political bulldozer who could not be stopped was just part of his shtick. Pretty funny.
But later, after seeing him ride an elephant, the symbol of the GOP, and proclaim himself on top of the Republican Party, we thought here was a guy taking himself way too seriously.
How about a starfish to Collier voters who differentiated between amusement and a good reason to vote for someone? Angiolillo netted about half of the 10 percent of the vote that being the first name on the ballot is usually worth.
Be better 'roll' models
A sand spur to school bus drivers who cut off other motorists who expect them to be models of safety rather than impatient opportunists just like the rest of us.
That is precious cargo they’re carrying. Other motorists are carrying precious cargo, too.
Filling community need
A sand dollar for Eric Madden, a Bonita Fire Control & Rescue District paramedic, who started a non-emergency transport company.
He says he saw a need for it because people who could not drive themselves to medical appointments were being advised by their doctors to call 911 for transport. He says his company charges less and frees up ambulances for real emergencies.
Gulf Coast Non-Emergency Transport is the name of the firm. Contact Madden at 239-825-1350 or info@gcnetransport.com.
Clipboard commando
A sand spur to the guy at the guardhouse at Lely Barefoot Beach last Saturday.
Though the entrance sign says visitors are welcome to drive straight through to the county beach park a mile and a half south of the subdivision entrance on Bonita Beach Road, this ambitious fellow was stopping cars to jot down their license-plate numbers on a clipboard.
When challenged, he got annoyed and said something about not bothering him when he’s busy.
A starfish goes to park employees for taking action on the complaint about the guard intimidating the public from using a public park. He wasn’t out there doing that much longer.
Honor where honor’s due
A starfish to Barron Collier High School for its Veterans Appreciation Program that will salute armed service veterans at the 7:30 p.m. Sept. 5 home football game versus Lely.
Military uniforms are requested but not required. Vets will get VIP treatment with reserved seats on the 50-yard line.
At no charge.
“As you know,” says a Collier County Veterans Council official, “they already paid.”

A SPUR IS DUE
To Peter Quinn, a tax free charity abuser, and owner of Manna Christian RV Park in Bonita Springs, for taking in over $80,000 a month in rents from the poverty residents at Manna Christian Park for over 25 years and not spending a dime to upgrade the living conditions one iota.
Lee County Comissioners and Lee County Code Enforcement jointly allowed the now terrible conditons to exist and grow worse over the 25 years.
Did anyone ask or monitor where the $80,000 a month was going?
Did Mr. Quinn and his organization contibute $80,000 to offset the money laid out by Saint Leo's Church to feed, house and cloth the dislocated renters during the height of the floodng.

Good points, Mr. Fitzgerald.
ANOTHER SPUR IS DUE>
Any seated Fire Commissioners attempting to grab from taxpayers, the cost to cover their personal health/dental insurance premiums. Shame on those thinking their position is one of entitlement.
The monthly stipend fire commsissioners get already is excessive. Let's avoid adding injury to insult.

Hey BonitaSprings1.
A little note to give you from last months Fire Board Meeting.
"It began when Bonita Springs Fire Commissioner Ed FitzGerald motioned that the board discuss how the district should pay for board members’ health insurance."
and also stated
"FitzGerald protested that last month’s agreement to have the district pay for plans couldn’t just be ignored. He also wanted to know how long the issue would be dropped."
here is where you can find the whole article

Just thought this was interesting especially with your post above.

Hmmm. Pure is poking at his own TAG partner? I think not, this whole thing with the insurance and the video equipment is some sort of TAG election strategy. It'll be interesting to see how this funny business plays out.

Call it what you want but we've all seen the sneaky way you guys operate in the past. I'm sure when election time rolls around the insurance and video expenditures will be a hot topic touted by TAG. Your guy Fitzgerald is the one responsible for both, but that information will likely be clouded over or misconstrued when the polls open.
