Old testament prophets class

Recognition Sunday

Temple Shalom

• A Jewish family education program for Jewish and interfaith parents and grandparents of children aged 3 to 5 will be offered 1-2:30 p.m. on nine Sundays beginning Sept. 14. New clergy

The following are new leaders of local congregations:

• Larry Locke will be the new senior pastor at the Community Congregational Church at 15300 U.S. 41 N., Naples. Locke comes to Naples from Hickory, N.C. He obtained his master’s of divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary and also has a master’s in economic geography/demographics from the University of Akron. Locke will conduct his first worship service at 10 a.m. Sept. 7.

• Rabbi Edward M. Maline is the new rabbi at the Jewish Congregation of Marco Island, 991 Winterberry Drive, Marco Island. Maline is a graduate of Middlebury College and was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to study at the University of Paris. He is a graduate of the Hebrew Union College, Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati and served as an associate rabbi at Temple Ohabei Shalom in Brookline, Mass. He was the rabbi of the combined Temples of KolAmi and EmanuEl of Plantation for the past 16 years.

• The Rev. Joseph F. Maiocci III is the new rector of St. John’s Episcopal Church, 500 Park Shore Drive, Naples. He is a graduate of West Virginia University and earned his master’s of divinity degree from Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry. He was ordained in 1984 and has 24 years of experience. He was with the Advent Episcopal Church in Westlake, Ohio and served six years as the midwest director for “Food for the Poor,” a social services institution in Deerfield Beach. He began his ministry at St. John’s on Aug. 1.
