New executive editor named at The News-Press
FORT MYERS Terry Eberle has been named executive editor at The News-Press in Fort Myers.
Eberle held the same title at the newspaper for six years before leaving in 2001 to become editor and vice president of The Indianapolis Star. He became executive editor at Florida Today in Melbourne in 2003.
Gannett Co. owns all three newspapers. Eberle has been named editor of the year for Gannett twice and Florida Today was named the company's paper of the year in 2006 under his leadership.
In Fort Myers, Eberle succeeds Kate Marymont, who left the executive editor position in April to become vice president of content for Gannett's U.S. Community Publishing Division. Marymont was Eberle's replacement in 2001.
Eberle said Wednesday he would focus on watchdog journalism, enterprise stories, urgency and innovation.
