Former Florida Everblades player Brad Church agreed to a one-year contract Wednesday to coach the Phoenix Roadrunners.
Church will return as head coach and director of hockey operations in Phoenix next season, his second full year as a head coach.
Church, 31, is the youngest coach in the ECHL. The former first-round NHL draft pick played in 62 games for the Blades during the 2004-05 season, adding 12 points in 19 playoff games on the way to the Kelly Cup Finals.
Church led Phoenix to its best-ever offensive numbers last season, but the Roadrunners still failed to make the playoffs, finishing with a 24-39-9 record.
The Roadrunners are scheduled to play preseason games against the Everblades in October.
