GCL RED SOX

Outfielder Roberto Feliz cranked three home runs and seven RBI in the GCL Red Sox’s 16-5 win against the GCL Reds on June 25. Feliz, a native of the Dominican Republic, went 4-for-5 and scored four runs.

MIRACLE

Cole Devries probably has a lot of scouts shaking their heads wondering why they didn’t draft the Minnesota native. Devries was signed by the Twins as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Minnesota. In his first season with the Miracle, Devries has compiled a solid 2.77 ERA. He led the Miracle to a win against Brevard County on June 27 by allowing just two hits and no earned runs in six innings. Devries has not allowed more than one earned run in his last seven outings.

The Miracle were slated to start a three-game series at Lakeland last night. The Flying Tigers have a familiar face to Florida baseball fans. Former Marlin Dontrelle Williams was optioned to Lakeland by Detroit.

Jeff Manship, a FSL All-Star with the Miracle in the first half of this season, notched his first win with New Britain (AA) after two losses. Manship allowed two earned runs and four hits over six innings in a 3-2 win on June 29.

Former Miracle pitcher Matt Garza tied his season-high strikeout mark with the Tampa Rays by fanning 10 Florida Marlins in 6-1 win June 26.

Due to a lengthy rain delay before the Miracle game on June 28, fans with ticket stubs from that game (used or un-used) can exchange them for free admission to any remaining Sunday-Wednesday home game this season. Tickets can be exchanged in person at the Miracle offices in Hammond Stadium or by mail.

Upcoming Miracle promotions include: July 11: Dog Daze (bring your dog to the game), July 12: Blanket Night (first 750 fans receive a Miracle blanket), July 22: Harry Caray Night (Take Me Out To The Ball Game).

GCL TWINS

So far, the deep ball belongs to Andres Diaz. The Lake Worth native has two home runs, which is two more than the rest of the GCL Twins active roster. Diaz is a 43rd round draft choice by the Twins.

JOHN TOLISANO

Lansing Lugnut second baseman John Tolisano notched his third home run of the season with a solo shot off Detroit Tigers prospect Wilton Garcia on June 27. Tolisano, a former standout at Estero High, hit the solo shot with two outs in the eighth inning of a 3-2 loss to West Michigan. As of Monday, Tolisano was batting .272 with 30 RBI.

FGCU ALUMNI

Richard Bleier allowed just one hit over five innings in his first start as a professional for Spokane. Bleier didn’t figure in the decision, but did lower his ERA to 1.64.

A five-game hitting streak by Sarasota Red first baseman Jason Louwsma ended on June 28.

Jason Peacock registered base hits in five of his first six games for the GCL Marlins.

Boise’s Casey Coleman tossed four innings of one-hit ball with one walk, one earned run and three strikeouts in his first start as a professional on June 26 against Everett. He didn’t figure in the decision.
