Your News: Golden Gate Branch Library to open to public on July 7

GOLDEN GATE — The Collier County Public Library is proud to announce that its newest star, the new Golden Gate Branch Library, will open its doors for the first time on Monday, July 7.

This branch library has expanded from just 7,000 square feet into a new 17,000 square foot building with more public computer access and room for studies.

To celebrate the opening of the new library, beginning July 7 and continuing through close of business on July 11, all patrons who check out materials at the new Golden Gate Branch Library will receive a free coupon good for a chance to win one of several great prizes in the Grand Opening Raffle.

A grand opening is scheduled for Saturday, July 12 with the ribbon cutting ceremony beginning at 10 a.m. at the old branch library located at 4898 Coronado Blvd., adjacent to the new Golden Gate Branch Library site off Golden Gate Parkway. Festivities will be held most of the day on July 12 with children’s activities and tours. All members of the public are invited to attend.

“We are proud this spacious and much needed library facility will boast more public computers for those who may not have this luxury at home and will further the Collier County Public Library Department’s efforts to provide educational opportunities for everyone,” Public Services Division Administrator Marla Ramsey said.

The new address for the Golden Gate Branch Library is 2432 Lucerne Rd. in Naples, FL and is adjacent to the old library. The expansion has allowed for the Golden Gate Branch Library to add private study rooms for customers, which is a benefit to both students and adults in the area. Additionally, there is a room now for arts and crafts and movies.

The official grand opening celebration will include a building dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony, which will be followed by an open house from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. A free musical concert by the Earthlings Washboard Band is planned for the afternoon. Those wishing to attend the concert are asked to contact the Golden Gate Branch Library at 252-GLIB for concert times.

Special children’s activities are also planned throughout the day on July 12, and library services will be available following the official dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony. All grand opening events are free, and the public is cordially invited to attend.

Raffle winners will be drawn at the July 12 grand opening and participants are not required to be present. Prizes include gift certificates to Cracklin’ Jack’s Restaurant, Mel’s Diner, Nana Vetta’s Diner and Pollo Tropical, Golden Gate K-Mart, Sunshine Ace Hardware and Wicked Rubber Stamper, free play-days at Dinosaur Playground,, a Naples Zoo Annual Family Membership and much more.
