Former Florida Everblade Chad LaRose informed the Carolina Hurricanes he is filing for salary arbitration, the team announced Monday.
LaRose, a forward, made $500,000 last year and was given a qualifying offer by the Hurricanes on June 30. The 26-year-old scored 11 goals and added 12 assists in 58 games in 2007-08. He missed most of the last part of the season with a broken leg, but returned to score four goals, including a hat trick, and add two assists in five games.
LaRose has played three seasons with the Hurricanes, including when they won the Stanley Cup in 2006. He had seven goals in 129 games with Carolina before this past season.
LaRose played 41 games for the ECHL's Everblades in 2003-04, scoring 16 goals and adding 19 assists. He had seven total points in 14 playoff games.
Hearings for NHL salary arbitration go from July 20-Aug. 4.
