Bob Ferguson became the second former Blades coach to earn an AHL job this offseason, his former Augusta Lynx team announced on Tuesday.
Ferguson, who coached the Blades from their first season in 1998 through a Brabham Cup in 2001, had been the head coach in Augusta from 2005-08. He leaves the Lynx to take a new position in the Anaheim Ducks organization, as assistant general manager for the Ducks’ AHL affiliate in Iowa.
Gerry Fleming, who coached the Blades from 2001-08, also earned an AHL job this summer. He was named as an assistant coach for the Springfield Falcons on June 30, a job that puts Fleming within the Edmonton Oilers organization.
