Blue Martini to set up shop in The Mercato

Something new and blue is coming to Naples.
The trendy Blue Martini lounge will take up a ground floor spot on Main Street in The Mercato off U.S. 41, near Vanderbilt Beach Road.
The lounge, serving 25 martinis that are guaranteed to “excite your taste buds and elevate your spirit,” is expected to open in early 2009. The menu of martinis includes the “Down & Dirty,” with Ketel One Vodka and olive juice, and the “Fly Me To The Moon,” with Finlandia vodka, Citronge, Watermelon Pucker, sour mix and pineapple juice.
The growing chain has locations at high-end specialty centers in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, West Palm Beach, Tampa and Las Vegas. It offers live entertainment seven days a week and a tapas food menu.
“This upscale entertainment concept will nicely complement our restaurants, shops and movie theater and add some nightlife energy and excitement to The Mercato,” said Dougall McCorkle, a senior vice president with The Lutgert Cos., a co-developer of the project.
Located on 53 acres, The Mercato is described as a “lifestyle center.” When completed, it will have nearly 330,000 square feet of main street-style shops and restaurants, 140,000 square feet of Class A office space and 175 luxury homes.
Other announced tenants include Whole Foods Market, The Capital Grille and McCormick & Schmick’s restaurants, Coldwater Creek and Books-A-Million.

Whatever happened to the original martins with olive or twist???? I quess it will go the way as Starbucks with its high prices....
