Collier County sheriff’s deputies are on the lookout for a teenager who they say shot a gun in the air and then struck another teen in the face with a gun.
The two teens, one 15 the other 18 or 19, had an altercation a couple of months ago, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Karie Partington said. The two teens had another confrontation today along U.S. 41 East near Shadowlawn Drive.
"Today, in the back parking of Long John Silvers, they met again," Partington said. "The suspect fired one shot into the air and then hit the victim with the gun."
Deputies arrived at the scene and found the 15-year-old with a cut lip. He was transported to NCH Downtown Naples Hospital at his own request, treated and released, Partington said.
Authorities are still on the lookout for the other teen.

Is it that time yet. I am wondering if it is time to buy a gun?
Seems like I might be the only one out there that doesn't have one.

kneejerk, youre not, I dont own one either.
Bayshore is completely closed off and there are helicopters searching for this kid. Or so I was told by a client.

I don't own a gun either and I never will. If a person needs to use a gun or any other kind weapon to hurt another, then he's not a man!!!!

This would have never happened if Ortino was Sheriff. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!

floridagirl - most people carrying concealed weapons don't carry them to "hurt another". They carry them to keep from being hurt themselves. But I'm glad you are making decisions on who is a man and who is not, since I'm assuming from your name that you've never had to worry about it.

This has nothing to do with gun control. It's about self control.

gutta = idiot...
floridagirl = ignorant...
see gutta.. thugs have guns to feel powerful.. every one else has guns to deal with thugs...
floridagirl.. naples dad says it all...

I personally respect your choice, and hopefully in return you respect those of us that do wish to carry a weapon.

Gutta;
So are you saying that there are no criminals in Naples?
Is this your first time out in the world?
Sounds like you may be about the same age as the ones they are looking for, maybe a little younger.
#10 Posted by indigodragonfly on July 18, 2008 at 9:35 p.m. (Suggest removal)
The right to bare arms should come with an age limit....or some regulation regarding teens.
I was learning to use a rifle at ten to get a hunting license...and I don't think I was ready to kill anything....yet alone shoot at a moving target.
Too many teens are getting hurt.

#12:
and just why do you THINK the criminals COME to Naples?
There's nothing of value to steal in Immokalee.
Twenty is still so young, you'll feel differently when you get older, and have more experience in the real world.
No sarcasm intended, just stating a fact.

As usual, we're off on another sideline hot-button topic when we should be concerned with Long John Silver's glorifying the pirate lifestyle.

I always have a gun within reach.
Therefore I always feel safe.
Too many nuts, illegals and scofflaws around to rely on the 7 minutes it takes Law enforcement to respond to a call(If you have a chance to make it and are still whole by the time they arrive)
By making it easy to get a permit Florida is telling you to arm yourself.
You've been warned, don't know who can whine to if you get mugged, robbed, beaten up, carjacked and didn't do anything to protect yourself.
Maybe count on Saint Peter for some sympathy???

Gutta1...
Are you kidding me? You don't think anyone in Naples needs a gun for the type of crimminals here?
That these so called crimminals aren't mortal threats??? Weren't you the one just defending the cop killer 'Abel' that is from Naples??? You may be "twenty" honey, but I don't think you made it past the mental capabilities of maybe a 9 or 10 year old.
#16 Posted by LEOM on July 19, 2008 at 12:04 a.m. (Suggest removal)
Remember, guns are for protection,is just that this young criminal don't know it yet, some body tell him please, and criminals like this have the right to own a gun.I don't know anymore what is right and what is wrong.
Guns are made for killing people.

Disregard Gutta1's comment, it's coming from a 20 year old who has already experienced the "world", and has it all figured out.

Obviously you haven't lived in FL for very long... and probably didn't grow up on the east coast for some time and now live here again and see what kind of crap is heading this way.
Also, glad to see Gutta has seen the world. Immokalee.... that place is actually pretty tame compared to other parts of our state.

I live in the neighborhood that was effected, I also have a gun for my personal protection in my home. Do I now need to think about a concealed weapon permit! This kid is a PUNK! We have had nothing but problems since this "family" moved in. We have called the police numerous times on this home. We have even spoken to the landlord but yet he still rents to them. I guess that's okay for him, because he doesn't have to live by them!

I do recall a couple of sheriff being hit and almost killed with vehicles because some thug tried to run them over. Thugs do not have respect for officers. Gutta1, why don't you like the police? Been arrested before? I do believe that was one of your comments on the blog yesterday about the shooting.

I have lived in this area for 20 years, if it hadn't been for my dog I would have been broken into. Now this! I just got mine for x-mas. This world is achangin. Alot has to do with parents who are trying to be friends and not parents.
#22 Posted by ladyblu on July 19, 2008 at 8:09 a.m. (Suggest removal)
Truth is, in Florida the crime rate has sky rocketed. Mostly attributed to Criminal Street Gangs. A crackdown is necessary. That cop killer was a gang member. No respect for life or law or people. They just take whatever they want and destroy lives in the process. I am hoping that with this new gang bill the AG created, that there is change soon or else we will be dealing with alot more crime. Naples has been low crime, hopefully it stays that way.

i wonder gutta... what kind of guns do you own???
#24 Posted by fra281 on July 19, 2008 at 9:37 a.m. (Suggest removal)
The point is:
We lost a courageous, beautiful human being to some low life form with no values.
People have every right to defend themselves, their families, and all other loved ones.
If a gun does the job, so be it.
It's not like if you give up guns, then the bad guys will give up theirs.
Gutta, your reasoning about guns is ridiculous. You have them because you like them?
I have pets because I love them, and they give love in return.
I highly doubt that from this day on the Naples police or Collier Sherrifs are going to be making it easier for this family of evil to exist as they have been, making all others around them uncomfortable.
What I do know of police friends from the past is, when you hurt a comrade, you have hurt and insulted the family.
ladyblu, I hope that you never have to use it.
I wish you well.

Gutta:
Grow up. You have guns and not a clue about them. That's not only sad, it's downright scary.

really.. interesting.. federal law says you can't own a handgun unless your 21, and your 20... hell you cant even get a conceal carry permit unless your 21....
so what are you doing with these guns... this is why you dont like cops.. because your a criminal yourself...

oh and by the way.. you have said that if we met you we would think differently about you.. umm nope.. i would still think your a piece of gargabe..

why thank you ladybug, i try ;)
#30 Posted by fra281 on July 19, 2008 at 10:17 a.m. (Suggest removal)
does not matter gutta.. you can not be in possession of a hand gun, regardless of who gave them to you until you are 21... they can't even be in your house... unless of course you live with some one who is over 21 and they own the hand gun..
and considering I am in law enforcement myself.. thats highly unlikely... your feelings regarding the police are the same as your feelings regarding me...
this had gotten old, and it's beginning to bore me.. you have a long way to go.. of which is not an insult, and i truely hope gutta that one day you grow up and see the light...
#31 Posted by fra281 on July 19, 2008 at 10:31 a.m. (Suggest removal)
If you have negativity issues with police, I definitely would not like you.
Give up the guns, and focus on self esteem, and respect for your fellow man.
fra281; Wow, fast thinking. Never thought of that. All Naples police has to do is get Gutta's IP and pay him a little visit.
Especially after his wonderful police comments.
Funny that, in all of your 20 YEARS you haven't had your house busted into.
Weren't you just a child for the first 12 years or more?
Happy Jesus, grow up.
#32 Posted by indigodragonfly on July 19, 2008 at 10:34 a.m. (Suggest removal)
thanks indigo... just thinking about it, the person who gave him the handgun committed a felony, as did the person who sold him the other handgun...
and since its a federal law.. they wouldn't be looking at county time.. they would be hanging with the big boys..
#33 Posted by fra281 on July 19, 2008 at 10:58 a.m. (Suggest removal)
Gutta1, you are correct. There are no criminals in Naples. They all go to Ft. Myers and shoot cops. I think you need help.

Guns ARE FUN! I think everyone should own there own little killing machine. As an added bonus, guns seem to bring people together (gun shows, gangs, prison, wars, funerals, Hell). How can a person deny the joy of owning such a thing! They are cute, too, the way they fit neatly into your hand with the little grip. I want to strip naked and roll around on a pile of guns!

N.D, "most people don't carry a gun to hurt another" How do you protect yourself with a gun without using it?
Dix, The cop 'your' word was fully trained and had his own gun. How did carring a gun help him?
Most people keep hearing how dangerous a job being a police officer is. The fact is they are not even in the top ten most dangerous jobs, not that I would want to be one. Even a taxi cab driver is more dangerous.

babbas...I know a lot of people here who sleep with their guns.
They make the bed...lay the gun on top...then cuddle with it every night.
They are all divorced, too.
Gee, I wonder why.
I wish I was kidding on this one, too.
