It’s summer and the living is easy, and the colors are bright, brighter and brightest. The brightest being neon. Yes, glow in the dark colors that will brighten the dullest day and mood are making a resurgence from the ’80’s.
The popular plastic timepiece called Toy Watch ($195) is now available in four colors: Kryptonite green, plutonium pink, ultra violet and atomic orange in the Neon Plasteramic collection. Orange gets my vote, but they all stand out.
Marissa Collections is selling a Marc Jacobs handbag in fluorescent green leather ($1,195). The pleated body comes with a gold-tone frame, hardware and snake chain strap, and a frog adorns the front flap. This accessory will liven any subdued outfit. You can also get a bright pink acrylic cuff with Swarovski Crystal lettering ($681) by Christian Lacroix. Strut your stuff with this lively adornment.
MAC Cosmetics has a limited edition of lipstick called Neo Sci Fi and features a neon orange ($14) in a black case. They also have eye shadow ($14.50) in bright colors and nail polish ($12) that comes in a glowing Plasma Blu. Pack them all in the neon orange patent pouch ($30). Match your mood with the brightness of your lipstick and nail color.
Journey sells neon shoelaces ($3) for children’s shoes and for adult shoes ($3.50) in orange, yellow or green. You can also get Nike’s Dunk sneakers ($74.99) for women in green and orange on white leather or DC’s ($69.99) in pink, green, black and orange with bright blue laces. If these aren’t bright enough, get the Osiris ($69.99) sneakers in black leather with pink, green, yellow and orange with neon laces.
If you just want to cover your legs in neon, get the footless tights at Wet Seal ($5) or brighten your hair with neon colored plastic head bands that come in a pack of five for $5.
Dr. Martens sells women’s fluorescent boots ($110) in green, pink, orange or yellow available online at Macy’s. The sharp colors are a throwback to the disco dance culture.
I even noticed that Lee Child’s latest novel, “Nothing to Lose,” ($27) has raised, orange neon lettering on the book jacket.
These lively colors will have you glowing day or night.
