Hookin’ You Up: June 11, 2008
Summer is heating up fast. With air temps in the mid-90s already, the water temperature is getting very warm. Summer’s warm water means small shrimp and lots of glass minnows. Checking inside the bellies of caught fish reveals that small baits are their general forage. It stands to reason, then, that having a variety of this type of bait, natural or artificial, will increase you catch success. Also, given the summer heat, fishing earlier is better than later, unless you wait until much later. Follow the tide, fishing on low to high or high to low. Moving water is cooler than still areas.
