Bonita Springs’ Amy Grossklag and Kelsey Laurente of Miramar got over playing each other in the Girls 16s singles semifinals to team up and win the Girls 16 doubles later Wednesday at The Landings in Fort Myers.
The pair — Grossklag won the semifinal match to advance to today’s finals — beat Brigita Bercyte of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Gyanna Mandic of Bradenton, 8-6, in the doubles semifinals, then knocked off Lindsay Graff of Fort Lauderdale and Nicole Robinson of West Palm Beach, 8-6, in the title match.
Earlier in the doubles, Leslie and Lindsey Raymond of Naples lost in the quarterfinals to Graff and Robinson, 8-1.
In Boys 16s doubles, Naples’ Brett Clark and Blaine Willenborg of Miami Shores edged Morgan Mays of Longboat Key and Trey Strobel of Bradenton, 9-8 (10), then lost to No. 2 seed Boris Bogomolov of Miami and Zach McCourt of Sunrise, 8-5 in the quarterfinals.
And in Girls 18s singles, former Naples resident Amy Simidian, the top seed, bounced back from a quarterfinal loss on Tuesday to beat Keri Frankenberger of Gainesville, 5-7, 6-1, 1-0 (9).
Simidian will play Mary Clayton of Plantation in the consolation semifinals today at 9 a.m. at The Landings. If Simidian wins, the consolation title match is scheduled for 1 p.m.
