The Naplesnews.com Collier County Seniors All-Star basketball games will be played on Wednesday night at Community School of Naples Field House.
The girls game is at 6 p.m., with the boys game at 8 p.m. The boys game can be heard on WCNZ/AM 1660, while the girls will be broadcast on WVOI/AM 1480.
Class 5A Player of the Year runner-up Kelsey Assarian of Barron Collier and teammates Dani Johnson and Karrissa Naretta will lead the North. Five players from St. John Neumann’s Class 2A state semifinalists, including 2,000-point career scorer Sarah Wickham, will play for the South.
Class 2A Player of the Year Kyle Petersen and teammates Chase Bently, Joey Fleming and Ross Gottschalk from Community School’s Class 2A state semifinalists lead the North.
Mike Hamburger, the Class 5A Coach of the Year who led Barron Collier to the state championship, will be the North’s head coach, going against Lely’s Brandon Miller and St. John Neumann’s Shannon McFee.
Barron Collier first-year coach Bryan Crislip will coach the North boys against Golden Gate’s Joe Consolino.
Due to NCAA rules, high school seniors can only participate in two postseason all-star games. So Barron Collier’s Erin Zampell and Michaela Hawley, and Golden Gate’s J.D. Woods will be honored at the games, but not compete. Dylan DeFeo of Lely also had to pull out for the same reason.
