A man was arrested Monday after Collier County deputies say he threatened his former girlfriend’s mother with a knife during a road-rage incident in North Naples.
Brennan Michael Morrison, 26, whose street address in Estero was not listed in an arrest report, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated stalking.
Arrest reports gave this account:
Morrison showed up at Beall’s, 3701 U.S. 41 E., at approximately 2:15 p.m. Monday to speak to an employee. The employee refused and asked Morrison to leave.
Morrison threatened to kidnap the employee's daughter, whom he used to date, if she didn’t speak to him. The employee again asked him to leave and he did.
The employee left work at approximately 4:30 p.m. and Morrison allegedly followed her in a green Jeep Wrangler. While the employee was stopped at a red light at Goodlette-Frank Road at Granada Boulevard, Morrison allegedly got out of his car and walked up to her vehicle and started tapping on the window with a knife.
Fearing for her safety, the woman ran the red light and drove home.
Morrison called her on her cell phone and told her to look out her window, where he was in front of her house. Deputies soon arrived and arrested him.

How does this qualify as a road-rage incident?
Stalking, yes, road rage no.
Either way, smiling for your mug shot should be an automatic three years added to your sentence.

mthalo: The people who write headlines for NDN do not read the articles. If they do, they need to go to a remedial reading class.

Road rage. I'm amazed at the level of journalistic incompetence. No mention of what he was even charged with. I once jokingly offered my services as a professional proofreader, but anyone who would publish this article with that headline is much too dense to even realize they need help.

My apologies, you did list the charges. And now you've corrected the headline. But printing it that way the first time; still dumb.

He was arrested for aggravated stalking and aggravated assault. Road rage is not a charge. The really dumb ones seem to smile for their booking photos. He probably goes to the ATM machine and when his money comes out, he yells, "I WON!!!!!"

Road Rage in Florida statutes can be translated to mean exiting your vehicle and approaching another vehicle in traffic, in a menacing and threatening posture, and by physical contact like striking the car with hands or kicking with feet, and enticing the person(s) in said vehicle to exit and to further escalate and involve themselves. Road Rage can also be interpeted to include aggresively tailgating, 'cutting off' or slaming on the brakes to attempt to stop the opposing vehicle along with threatening gestures and yelling foul language.
Add a weapon, from a tire iron to a knife, and to the extreme - a gun, and you have escalated this incident to aggrevated assault. The part where he shows up at her residence adds the stalking charge - and I'm suprised that they did not add a charge of lying in-wait to his list of crimes. The smirk for the 'mug-shot' indicated to me that he thinks this is all a joke; he really needs a trip to the DLC...this guy is a danger to the public and a restraining order won't keep him from coming back.
The people who are the focus of this man's rage need to change their zip code, or take the course and carry a firearm.

No wonder this lad is troubled. I would be also, if my initials were B.M. The good news is that the jail Doctor has some fine salve for those sores on B.M.'s forehead and is going to tape back B.M.'s ears for cosmetic enhancement. B.M. likely will look like Brad Pitt when he gets out.

botheyesopen; regarding the corrections. Guess someone from NDN reads the blogs occasionally. This is good.

Has anyone thought that his "mugshot" may be his driver's liscense picture??!! Give him a break and stop incriminating him by his outward appearence. How are you sure this woman isn't lying? There are those issues that women in distress lie to get attention that they aren't getting. Some of these journalist at NDN really know how to streach these simple stories. Not just local news, but every type of story.
