Woman charged with selling fake designer goods
A 42-year-old woman was charged with selling fake designer goods after deputies uncovered counterfeit purses, shoes, jewelry and accessories from a North Naples store bearing her name after a months-long investigation.
Dana Lisi Klein, 42, 87 East Ave., North Naples, was arrested Wednesday and charged with selling forged goods over $1,000.
Deputies executed a search warrant at the Dana Klein store, 3090 U.S. 41 N., on May 24, 2007, and uncovered fake handbags, watches, sunglasses and other merchandise bearing labels from 21 trademark designers such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Versace, Burberry, Chanel, and Prada, the Sheriff’s Office reported. The items had an estimated value of $526,600.
An undercover deputy went to the store in April 2007 after receiving information that the store was selling fakes. The store appeared cluttered, unlike other retailers that sell merchandise of such caliber, reports said.
Jewelry, shoes and sunglasses were displayed on card tables covered in black cloth, deputies said. Cartier watches were displayed on a plastic rack, along with Tiffany, Gucci, Chanel and Louis Vuitton necklaces and bracelets.
The undercover deputy selected a black Louis Vuitton purse priced at $75; the manufacturer’s suggested retail price for that purse ranges from $600 to $3,750.
The undercover deputy proceeded to the check-out area, which consisted of a card table with a makeup bag containing a large amount of money inside and a small credit card terminal, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
When the undercover deputy asked for a receipt, a store employee said none would be given because the deputy paid cash. The employee also told the deputy that an exchange would still be possible even without a receipt, reports said.
The employee also told the undercover deputy that all of the items in the store were “imported internationally and were Grade A quality,” reports said.
Further investigation by the Sheriff’s Office revealed the purse purchased by the undercover deputy was counterfeit and not a genuine Louis Vuitton.
Complimenting waitresses lands man in jail
An Estero man was arrested Wednesday after he admitted to “giving the ladies compliments” at Hooters.
Ben Michael Crowther, 23, 19940 Barletta Lane, No. 1221, was charged with misdemeanor disorderly intoxication.
Around 3:15 p.m. Collier County sheriff’s deputies responded to Hooters, 3625 Gateway Lane, in reference to a possible disturbance, according to an arrest report.
Hooters manager, Aric Henry Tousignant, told the deputy Crowther was causing a disturbance with customers and staff in the bar area. Christina Katie Gammack-Clark, a server at Hooters, told deputies Crowther was intoxicated, was calling her names and making comments while she attempted to serve customers, reports said.
He was also disturbing customers sitting in the bar.
Crowther told deputies he was “giving the ladies compliments and the manager became angry.”

Woman charged with stealing nearly $3,000 in fish
Forget nets and fishing poles, 21-year-old Brittany M. Prince only needed to climb a fence to bring home nearly $3,000 worth of fish.
Between 1:17 a.m. and 2:31 a.m. on April 18, Prince and Joshua A. Schroder jumped the fence of the Driftwood Garden Center, 5051 Ninth St. N., according to an arrest report. While inside the business, Prince stole four Japanese Koi fish, valued at $650 each, and one American Koi, valued at $250.
They brought the fish to a man, identified in reports as Kevin Dinger, who paid them $600 and promised another $200, reports indicate.
Prince, Schroder and Dinger went back to the Driftwood Garden Center when it opened in the morning to verify the value of the fish, reports said. While they were at the store they were approached by a Naples police officer, who was there taking an offense report.
On Wednesday police arrested Prince, who lives in Lehigh Acres, and charged her with burglary, petty theft and four counts of grand theft. Prince told investigators she was not a thief, and while being shown surveillance footage reiterated that she didn’t steal anything.
When the investigator asked Prince why she was in the business after hours, she said she couldn’t remember and must have been in a coma, reports said.
Reports do not indicate if further arrests and charges are expected in the case.
