Miami man arrested after Collier traffic stop accused of identity theft
An east coast man was arrested Thursday after Collier County Sheriff's deputies found credit cards, checkbooks and other personal information that didn't belong to him in his car during a traffic stop in Golden Gate.
Odlen Pierre-Louis, 33, of Miami, was charged with identity theft.
Arrest reports say Pierre-Louis was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Monte Carlo west on Interstate 75 near the 96 mile marker about 12:50 a.m. when deputies stopped him for having illegal window tint. Pierre-Louis’ brake lights were not working when he pulled over, reports said.
A search of the Monte Carlo turned up credit cards, photocopies of driver’s licenses, credit card applications, utility bills and bank statements with the names of various individuals, reports said.
Deputies also found a handwritten form that contained the names of about 20 individuals, along with dates of birth and Social Security numbers, reports said.
Pierre-Louis told deputies he did not know any of the individuals and was not sure how their IDs and personal information got inside his car, reports said.
Pierre-Louis was also charged with marijuana possession after deputies say they found two small bags of marijuana inside his car.

I wonder if he knew how he got inside the car? Unlike not knowing how the documents got in the vehicle. Maybe the documens had legs or a hurricane blew them inside the car? Things happen so we should believe him and buy desert in Alaska or snow in Miami.

Driving the alley with no brake lights at 12;50 pm...like shootin fish in a barrel for the law enforcement. Clearly a criminal with not much to loose. The Krone detention center and some friendly waterboarding awaits.

Last time I checked, illegal window tint and a broken brake light does not warrant a vehicle search. Obviously there is more story here.

cc0101 obviously there is more to the story. Have you seen the NDN report the whole story before? I haven't. Maybe the cop simply asked the guy to search.

People from Miami come to Naples to rip us off because they think they are smarter than we are. It is hard to rip off anyone in Miami due to the fact there are a lot of theives there. My friend was ripped off for her credit card in her own shop because she is trustworthy.

Colliercounty0101,
The article does not spell out the specific reasonable suspicion the deputy used to determine whether or not he would ask for a consentual search. If he asked to search and the gentleman allowed it, it is fair game.

Colliercounty0101,
A deputy can search a vehicle if there is enough probable cause.
I hope they send this cretin to jail for many years! Identify theft can destroy a persons life and can take a long time to correct.

just deport all the criminals to Iraq and see how they like it there! that way we only have to spend $ on a one way ticket instead of maintaining them in prison.

COLLIER COUNTY 0101, MANY OF THESE DEPUTIES SEARCH A CAR FOR NO CAUSE, THEY PULL YOU OVER FOR NOT COMING TO A FULL STOP YET HOW WOULD HE HAVE KNOWN THAT WHEN THERE WAS A MINIVAN BEHIND ME, OF COURSE THAT WAS A BUNCH OF CRAP. BESIDES I KNOW I CAME TO A FULL STOP (LIKE WHAT HAPPENED TO ME) AND THE NEXT THING I KNOW HE ASKS TO SEARCH MY CAR. WHAT FOR? THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME 3X. ITS CRAZY. AND IM CRAZY FOR SAYING YES. IN THIS CASE IT WAS GOOD HE SEARCHED THE CAR BUT ALOT OF THEM DO IT BECAUSE WELL THEY ARE BORED AND TRYING TO FIND SOMETHING.
