New member class

A new member class will be held at 8:30 a.m. today at Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church, Fellowship Hall, 1225 Piper Blvd. (off Immokalee Road), Naples. Information: 597-5410, ext. 216

Quilt display

The Vanderbilt Presbyterian Comfort Quilters will have its hand-made quilts on display 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at 1225 Piper Blvd., Naples. The quilts benefit the Shelter for Abused Women & Children, and the group has given more than 100 quilts to the Shelter since 2005.

Forum

Steve Glassman will speak at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Greater Naples at 9 a.m. Sunday at 6340 Napa Woods Way, Naples. Glassman’s forum is titled “The Unusual But Ultimately Sensible Religious Beliefs of the Maya.” Information: 455-6553

Women’s groups

• Christian Women’s Alliance will meet at 10 a.m. today at the Gulf Shore Church, Bernwood Centre, 24850 Old 41 Road, Bonita Springs. Free, includes brunch.

• Bonita Springs/Estero Christian Women’s Connection will meet 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Pelican Sound Golf & River Club, off Corkscrew Road, Bonita Springs. Dance Life of Southwest Florida will present “Dancing Feet,” and Marilyn Sitton will be the speaker. $18. Information: 949-9644

• Rosemary Williams and Goldye Meyer will present a workshop titled “Money, Women and Spirituality: Connecting Your Pocketbook to Your Soul,” 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 17 at Unity of Naples Church, 2000 Unity Way, Naples. $60, includes lunch. Information: 775-3009

• St. Paul’s Episcopal Church women presented the following new officers for 2008-09 on Wednesday at St. George and the Dragon Restaurant: Roberta Holt, president; Dorothy Noble, vice president; Marion Kennedy, treasurer; and Barbara King, secretary. They will be commissioned at the worship service on Sunday.

Interfaith convocation

Parents, Friends and Families of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) will sponsor an interfaith convocation at 2 p.m. May 18 at Temple Shalom, 4630 Pine Ridge Road, Naples. A reception with music by Laura Lou Roth, a harpist, will follow the convocation. Information: 513-4568
