The Guadalupe Center of Immokalee has received the national APPLE Accreditation from the Florida Association of Child Care Management.
“It was a very detailed process but well worth it,” said Barbara Oppenheim, Guadalupe center executive director in a prepared release. “Accreditation will assure parents, the community and our supporters that the Guadalupe Center is meeting all the requirements of a first-class Early Learning Center.”
Criteria judged included the center’s policies and procedures, the physical facility, employee longevity and training, teacher-child interaction, child-care management, parent and community involvement and advocacy for children.
The Guadalupe Center is now among only 10 percent of all child-care centers in Florida that are so-accredited.
The Guadalupe Center of Immokalee’s Early Learning Program serves 150 children from 6 weeks to 5 years old. The center is a nonprofit organization helping the poor in Collier County.
“I salute the teachers for their dedication and hard work, as well as their attention to each child’s individual needs,” said Desmond Barrett, Guadalupe Center’s director of education, in a release.
The Naples Daily News asked readers to help us build an interactive map of Mother's Day greetings from around Southwest Florida and you responded! The majority of our responses were from Collier County, but we received Mother's Day messages from all over the United States, including Louisiana, Arizona, Tennessee, Ohio, New Jersey, Georgia and Missouri, as well as locations on Florida's East Coast.
