Police arrested a 45-year-old man Monday morning after they say he urged a Lehigh Acres couple to steal koi fish from a Naples store, and then purchased the $3,000 worth of fish for $800.
Kevin L. Dinger, 3454 Dorado Way, East Naples, was charged with one count of dealing in stolen property.
Around 2:30 a.m. on April 18, Brittany M. Prince and Joshua Schroder, both 21, jumped the fence of the Driftwood Garden Center, 5051 U.S. 41 N., Naples police reported. The couple stole four Japanese koi, valued at about $650 each, and one American koi, valued at $250.
Dinger told Schroder to steal as many koi as he could, and that he would pay him for the fish, Schroder told police. Dinger told investigators he purchased the fish from Schroder for $800, police reported.
Prince’s and Schroder’s identities were revealed the next morning when they went back to the garden center to verify the value of the fish, and were recognized by employees as the burglars they saw on surveillance video. Dinger was at the store with Prince and Schroder.
Prince and Schroder were arrested previously on charges of burglary, petty theft and grand theft. When an investigator asked Prince why she was in the business after hours, she said she couldn’t remember and must have been in a coma.

The whole story sounds pretty fishy to me. The couple gets the DUH Award for returning the next day to ask for the value of the fish.....the two new nick names for Prince and Schroder are Dumb and Dumber.

What a loser, but then again, I would call anyone that, who took a Viper and painted it Chameleon. Heck I wasn’t even surprised to see that a Dinger was involved in such recklessness. The stigma surrounding the Dinger last name is flamboyant stupidity with a dash of white trash!!!!
