After reading all of your posts I've decided to comment. I read the story and all I gathered from it is that the man said the girl was pretty and grabbed her hand and held it while talking to her. When she pulled away, he did not let go.

There was not very much contextual information supplied about the incident, only those few bits offered by the paper and in my opinion that is hardly enough to call this man a pervert or child molester. He did not grab her breast or rear and he did not pull up with a big black van and ask her "Do you want some candy little girl?” He talked to her in the middle of cafe outside, at 4 in the afternoon.

First of all, 14 year old girls these days DO NOT look like 14 year olds. They typically look more like 18-20 year olds. Call it a sign of the times or whatever, but if she looked 18 or older then chances are this man was thinking he was hitting on a WOMAN not a 14 year old girl. Unless she was sitting there listening to the latest Jesse McCartney tune blaring in her IPod, studying 8th grade literature, with a Hannah Montanna shirt on, I highly doubt that the normal passerby would have thought "Oh she must be 14".

Secondly, there was no mention where in the world the girl’s parents were. Who allows their 14 year old daughter to sit outside in a cafe alone? I realize that it was the middle of the afternoon but its always been my experience that children should be supervised especially under the age of 16.

I’m not being biased I am just offering another opinion on this incident. And since when did being accused of a crime automatically make you guilty and throw you into the realm of adjectives such as white trash, child molester, sicko, etc etc etc.

The court and justice systems in this country are set up to give a fair and unbiased trial to the accused and who are we as readers of a 181 word article (with limited information) to pass judgment on this situation?

Dcoop and unbiased until you realize that CCSO needs to protect young teens in this communtiy..both MALE AND FEMALE....especially at bus stops.

Teens are forced to show up at a bus stop in Eastern (the GG estates portion of) Collier County before dawn to arrive to school on time, and loons like this are lurking and waiting for them.

When a new leader in CCSO comes on board, maybe changes wil be made in this regard.

Til then, no....I will not calm down until new self defense programs are offered to teens here.

You missed the premise of my post. I said nothing about the CCSO, bustops, or anything of that nature.

If you are going to address my post or myself, please keep it relavent to what I was saying. I read the article, analyzed what I saw, and commented.

I directed nothing toward any particualr poster/comment, I never told anyone to calm down, and I never said anything about bus stops or teenage self defense.

I simply offered another point of view on the subject, whether you agree with it or not is your matter,not mine.
