TALLAHASSEE — Florida business groups want to stop a new law allowing residents to keep guns locked in their cars at work from taking effect until after a legal challenge is settled.
The Florida Chamber and Florida Retail Federation submitted paperwork asking a judge for a preliminary injunction Thursday in their case against the state. The law is set to take effect July 1.
Under the new law, businesses cannot prohibit employees or customers from keeping a legally owned gun locked inside their cars.
Supporters of the law say people have a constitutional right to carry firearms and should be able to keep guns in their cars for protection. Business owners have argued they have a constitutional right to set the rules on their own property.

When a nut walks into your business with all kinds of illegal guns and starts shooting everyone in sight because of some crazy reason you would wish someone had a legal gun to stop the slaughter!
Outlawing legal guns has not stopped anyone from going "postal."

Private property is sacrosanct Business owners have the right to decide what they want on their property. As a member of the buying public, I support their wanting to ban guns om their premises.
