WOW DIDN'T KNOW THAT YOU COULD PLAY ONLY 2 GAMES ALL SEASON LONG AND MAKE THE ALL-AREA TEAM. RYAN IAMURRI SHOULD NOT BE ON THAT TEAM, SOMEONE WHO PLAYED ALL SEASON LONG SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON THAT TEAM. BUT THEN AGAIN SHE IS AN IAMURRI.....THE RULES ARE DIFFERENT FOR HER....

Nick Young here. . . .. Head girls track coach at Lely HS. . . . .congrats to all the girls that made the Naples Daily News All-Track First Team . .. . and of course I am extremely prejudice .. . . but also extremely curious .. . how the young lady who qualified for the state 3A meet in the Pole Vault and got 6th clearing 10 feet did not make the first team??? and .. . How a young lady who had the longest triple jump in southwest Florida did not make the first team?? and . .. how a young lady who qualifed for two sprint events at the 3A state meet . .. .3A Region 4 champion in the 200 meter dash .. . .4 time collier county 100 meter dash champion and she too did not make the first team??? Anyone who knows Collier County track and field knows the names of Lindsey Bott, Victoria Howard, and Manolitha Joseph. . . .. for some reason, I feel somewhat disappointed these three ladies were not named to the list of FIRST TEAM . . again, congrats to all the young ladies who worked hard during the track season and for excellent results at your respective state competitions. . . . Collier County track and field is alive and well thanks to all the ladies throughout the area. . . .

I couldnt agree more eyecitall. Its A shame another girl who played all year long got cheated out because of a name. Here's another sample. How can a player get all area and M.V.P. of her team when she was flexed played all season long and when she did bat she probably ended up hitting less that 050 (YES less than fifty, five zero) batting average. She went 9-4 as a pitcher one more lost and she less that 500. YOU FIGURE IT OUT!!!

Thats not saying much for the rest of the team, with them stats, and getting M.V.P.

As a student of NHS and a super fan of the softball team, I can't help but laugh at a few of these comments. Unless you know the girls and how hard they've worked you have no right to put them down. In regards to the comments on the pitcher and Ryan, the pitcher is amazing she can throw a 70mph under-hand pitch, which at 16yrs old is outstanding! On the other hand, Ryan was able to play in a couple very important games after coming back from working her butt off in therapy after her surgery, and she ended up being a key player in both of those games. Not a single member of that team deserves crap from anyone! And just to inform all of you who think you know what you're talking about. . . I'd like to see you try and hit a 70mph fastball or catch a grounder to left field or even run up and down the bleachers every other day at practice!

GO NHS SOFTBALL LADIES!!!

Let's get one thing straight, I wasn't talking about the Naples pitcher. If you know softball so much you would have figured that out yourself considering the stats I gave. Secondly what about the poor girl who worked her butt off ALL SEASON LONG TOO and played 24,25,26 or more games and got cheated out because a girl played two games. Since you know sports so much let me ask you a question....is it harder to keep stats up playing 25 games week after week or two games. Think about it.

As a former student of NHS, I want to congradulate the players who made the all area teams and wish them luck! You have done an awesome job representing naples this year! I had the best time cheering on my classmates to win 2 state titles! To gatorfan, I would try harder to realize that it is the girls playing the game not you! So before you go picking on a player you should stop to think a little, maybe oh this is a thought, be more considerate! 4generations, did not say anything rude about the "poor girl", she simply congradulated all the girls on what they have achieved together, which is outstanding! It did seem like you(gatorfan) were talking about the NHS pitcher so I do fully support 4generations in what was said. Each player on that team is amazing and they all bring something to the table. So maybe gatorfan, you should step back a little and let the girls handle their own problems and you should go back to preschool and learn some manners.

GO NHS SOFTBALL LADIES!

You Both have not answered the post from eyecitall. VERY SIMPLE QUESTION (Since now we are discussing education levels)How do you make all area team playing two games....(and you dont make all conference team, probably thats a first in history)very straight forward question....Not a trick question. O.K. I know Iam not playing the game, just sticking up for the underdog and the girl that deserved that spot based on her athletic ability instead of something else. It confirms what I have known for years, awards come down to popularity contest, who you know or who you are. PERIOD. "Each player on the that team is amazing and they all bring something to the table" MAYBE THEY ALL SHOULD HAVE MADE ALL AREA TEAM ...PROBLEM SOLVED "all bring something to the table" Cool and if your not being coached in writing this. And the thing about handling their own problems, where did that come from...education levels once again, stay up and on the subject being discussed,do not try to dance or skate around the question or the topic being discussed , we all know that game.

Education levels, hmmm. I don't know how old you are (gatorfan) but it seems as though you are hinting that you are older and wiser than I am in that last post. With the way you are handling this however I would say you are being very immature about the matter. I wasn't dancing or skating around the question, I was saying how rude I think you are being. Im glad your sticking up for the underdog, I do it too, but you can do that without bashing the other player.

#9 Posted by naplessailor18 on June 2, 2008 at 5:32 p.m. (Suggest removal)

It is NOT a popularity contest. Yes they are all amazing players that work wonderfully together but, some do stand out more than others.

In response to gatorfan's question:
(How do you make all-area team playing two games?) Well. . . you stand out in those two games!

#11 Posted by 4generationsmarcoislander on June 2, 2008 at 11:53 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Well after numerous commets, at least 4generations tried to answer the question of the first post. And let me say that I Hate to single out anybody individuality but fair is fair, one of them girl on honorable mention could have received that spot. That's all Iam trying to say,Thinking of her feelings.

#12 Posted by gatorfan on June 3, 2008 at 9:44 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Hey, eyecitall I got the best one yet. In the Fort Meyers papers on June 10TH, I guess its another all area team, She was so good in them two games she made second team and honorable mention. Thats pretty amazing. Two games and two teams, WHAT A BIG JOKE. Like I've always heard be careful about daughter-coach combinations. Just look around the county.
