Collier County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a report of an armed robbery at a UPS packing store in Golden Gate over the weekend.

Investigators say the robber entered the UPS store, 6017 Pine Ridge Road, through a back door around 6:10 p.m. Friday after the store was closed.

The robber, who was wearing a mask, pointed a gun at an employee and demanded money from a cash register, investigators said. The employee complied and the robber left the store, making off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Deputies searched the area on the ground and in the air, but were unsuccessful in locating the suspect.

Investigators described the suspect as 5 feet 6 inches with a thin build. He was wearing a gray T-shirt, tan pants, red hat and dirty white shoes.

Anyone with information should call the Collier County Sheriff’s Office at 239-793-9300 or if you wish to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).

I guess they left out the color of the robbers skin so as not to offend anybody. The reporter described the robber as "he" though that may be politically incorrect since the suspects gender is really unknown at this point. If I seen any thin 5'6" people in the Golden Gate area carrying a sackful of UPS money whilst wearing nasty shoes I will certainly call crimestoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). Until then, that's all I have to go on.

If they state the race of the robber he might come back and sue them for invasion of privacy or violating his civil rights. We would not want to hurt his feelings would we??

Try a little discretion tempered with diversity acceptence will you??

geez--next thing you know barack HUSSEIN obama will be president and we will have to learn these traits!

you dont have to worry, the only way they could catch this guy is to stop him for some BS traffic violation. Oh, sorry, that would take the ability to put two and two together..oh,well. Better call your insurance company. glad to see the SO is doing their normal ignorance thing.

What's befuddling is the undisclosed amount of cash.
A good business owner would know how much is in a register...at least an estimate.
But have you been there? Rip off city. Rather mail stuff from USPS any day.
At least everyone was okay.

I am the owner of the UPS Store that was held up last Friday and would firstly like to assure beetlejuice that I know exactly how much was taken.

What disturbs me greatly is the fact that it has taken 4 days for a report to be placed in the NDN and then only in a subsection and not as a headline.

I would also have assumed that WINK TV News would have picked up on it and run with it.
Have we reached such a stage with crime in Naples that armed robberies are no longer considered to be Headline news and can be relogated, four days later, to a subsection?
I was also disturbed to be informed that the deputy who is investigating this crime only works in the afternoons from Wednesday to saturday!!!

Harley and learning...the amount of cash says a lot about the crime. But nobody was hurt, which is good. Plus, this store location is not in Golden Gate either, it's more on the edge of Naples, than Golden Gate. And why didn't the employee have access to an emergency call-button under the desk? Or where are the video cameras, and why was back door easy to open?
It's like the guy whose mad at the criminal who stole his car from his own driveway, when dumb car owner left his key in the ignition. Or that CCSO cop who parked illegally and wondered why his car was towed away.
Wake up people! Stupidity is not reserved for headline news...unless your scaling walls of skyscrapers in NY City...now that's kinda funny.
But if your looking for a free advertisement with a TV news station, a break in will not cut it.
