Ten high school students attended the past Sunday's meeting of the Naples Teen Triathletes, but the new club is still seeking additional members.
Barron Collier High School teacher Erica Szilagyi said the students, all from Barron Collier, are mostly swimmers. She said club members will participate in a mini-triathlon--a 200-yard swim, 5-mile bike and 1.5 mile run--starting at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Monterey club house in the community along Orange Blossom Drive. The get-together also will be a social event for members.
Szilagyi said she’s planning another mini-triathlon for late October or early November. That event will be at Clam Pass beach in Naples, where the members usually train from 4-5:30 p.m. Sundays.
For teens who don’t have a bicycle, Szilagyi said Big Momma’s Bicycles in Naples will provide bicycles for use.
For more information, contact Szilagyi at 404-5023.
