Perspective: Goodlette & Golden Gate

The view from above best shows what's happening at the busy Naples hub

One of the most interesting busy intersections in Southwest Florida these days is the corner of north-south Goodlette-Frank Road and east-west Golden Gate Parkway in Naples.

To the west, motorists who do not attend Naples High football games crane necks to see the newly installed artificial turf at Staver Field.

That turf includes a Golden Eagles logo at midfield and bold, colorful letting in the end zones.

To the east, motorists try to figure out what is happening at the intersection’s northeast corner. That is where the Naples Water Quality Park, a project of Collier County government, is taking shape.

The idea is to combine an area that holds and filters storm water rather than have pollution flow into the Gordon River to the south. The area also will include a passive park with trails, an education center and space for public outdoor events.

The best way to see it all is from the air. These scenes were made in late August.

Enjoy.
