Paige Driapsa had 20 kills, 17 digs, 6 blocks and 5 aces as St. John Neumann knocked off Community School, 25-23, 28-26, 22-25 and 25-16 in the quarterfinals of the Class 2A-District 12 volleyball tournament at Evangelical Christian on Monday night.
The Celtics (8-13) will play top-seeded Evangelical Christian tonight. Community School finished 6-11.
“The girls were very excited, and managed to pull everything together for districts,’’ SJN coach Chris Addeo said. “We had a great first game. Community School is a great opponent.’’
Brittany Giller added 14 kills, 8 digs, 6 aces and 3 assists, and Amanda Rousseau and Danin Greusel also had key contributions.
Kelsey Lipman had 12 assists, 1 kill and 2 digs, and Kat Malat added 15 digs, 3 kills and 2 aces for Community School.
“From parents to players to assistant coaches, this was the most enjoyable year I have had coaching,’’ CSN coach Keith Edwards said.
No. 2 seed Seacrest Country Day cruised by Moore Haven, 25-13, 25-12 and 25-7. The Stingrays will face No. 3 seed Canterbury in the semifinals tonight.
Katherine Boll had 7 kills, Sam Buddemeyer had 12 aces, and Dalymar Legrand had 17 assists, 2 digs and an ace for Seacrest.
“Moore Haven is a class act,’’ Seacrest coach Duarte Da Silveira said. “ I’m very pleased with how we played. It helped us get ready for the game against Canterbury.’’
CLASS 4A-12: Palmetto Ridge defeated Immokalee, 25-17, 16-25, 25-12, 25-11, and will play top-seeded and host Naples High in the semifinals.
Samantha Winslow had 10 kills for the Bears (13-16). Mariah Padilla added 7 kills, 9 aces, and 3 digs, and Nancy Starrett had 5 kills and 3 blocks.
“It started off slow, but we had nice team effort to pull it together for a win,’’ Palmetto coach Jess Drevitch said.
CLASS 4A-11: No. 6 seed and host Lemon Bay upset No. 3 seed South Fort Myers, 25-21, 25-18, 23-25 and 25-19 in the opening round.
The Manta Rays will play No. 2 seed Estero, which swept Clewiston, 25-19, 25-14, 25-13. Top-seeded Riverdale and No. 5 seed LaBelle also won Monday.
