You tiptoe past a mother crying for her baby in a coffin. She looks you in the eye, begging you for help.
Around a corner, a clown lurches toward you and then follows you for a spell.
A man wielding an axe bears down on a boy laying on a gurney.
Walk on. The next room is empty and for a moment, you think you can breathe.
But don’t let your guard down. There is life in the dead zones.
The characters at the Naples Jaycees Haunted House are convincing.
“We’ve literally had people pee their pants,” said Beth Moran, acting president and chairman of the project.
The group has been holding the annual event in Naples for more than 40 years. The organization is comprised of people 18-41 who serve the community through holiday food drives, disaster relief and back-to-school projects to help the needy in Collier County.
After weather slowed the opening, the Haunted House is ready and waiting to terrify you — for a good cause, of course.
And if it’s left up to these volunteers, only courage will get you out.
