NAPLES There are subtle changes in the upcoming year’s proposed Collier County budget that gets aired publicly Thursday.
The proposed dollars to be raised from taxes in the coming budget year would be $326,561,705. That is based on a primary county tax rate of $3.1469 per $1,000 worth of property, and a secondary rate of 69 cents per $1,000 worth of property that fortifies the general fund for the unincorporated areas.
The Collier County Commission meets at 5:05 p.m. today for the first budget hearing at the county government complex, at the corner of U.S. 41 East and Airport-Pulling Road.
Some of the budget numbers for the fiscal year that begins Oct. 1 are slightly less than proposed in July.
For instance, the total budget for the County Commission, office administration and airport operations has decreased from the originally proposed $28.78 million to $28.767 million.
The cuts come from the budgets of the Immokalee Community Redevelopment Agency and the Bayshore/Gateway Triangle Community Redevelopment Agency.
In June, the Immokalee CRA was budgeted for $2.853 million. Now, it’s budgeted for $2.85 million.
Likewise, in June, administration of the Bayshore/Gateway CRA was budgeted for $5.308 million. Now, it’s budgeted for $5.297 million.
The total net county budget is expected to be $1,056,246,400, some 19.2 percent less than the current $1,307,657,700 budget.

Good to see they are cutting the budget in these tough times. County tax rate based on property values. Down from $5.308 million to $5.297 million, down of total of 19.2% percent for the net county budget. Does anyone that works for the county read all of the articles in the papers about our real estate market?
