A 23-year-old man was arrested Thursday on felony charges after Collier County Sheriff's deputies say he stole a laptop computer from the North Naples Country Club where he worked and then sold it to a pawn shop for cash.
Eric Louis Mazza of 8236 Ibis Cove Court was charged with grand theft, dealing in stolen property and defrauding a pawnbroker.
Arrest reports say Mazza entered the unlocked golf cart barn at Quail Creek Country Club, 13300 Valewood Drive, around 4 p.m. on Aug. 19 and stole an HP Pavilion laptop computer valued at $749.99.
Further investigation by deputies revealed that Mazza took the laptop to Capital Pawn Superstore, 1933 Davis Blvd., East Naples, on Aug. 20 and sold it in exchange for $175, reports said.

"There is nothing wrong about stealing if you can get away with it."

Not everyone has to be a victim. This perp was caught because the owner of the laptop had identification information...followed by the CCSO processing the info...and lastly by the HONEST pawnbroker who did the right thing.
If we all take the time to protect our valuables then we won't be cast as victims, and we can put the criminals amongst us in jail.

Capital Pawn is one of the honest shops...as long as the items have serial numbers on them they will try to work in co-ordination with the police/sheriff's dept. The best thing any consumer can do is to register any electronics and traceable items so if something like this happens you can at least try to get them back...
and CTL I am a special *jewel*

Pawnbrokers who actually report stolen goods are few and far between.
The golf course was lucky to get the goods back!

As I was told by my father years ago, if you are going to steal, steal enough to retire on. Otherwise, your life will be ruined.
He also told me to be smart.
Obviously, this goon never had a father.

#23 Posted by The_Brooks: "And the "good news" folks is-unemployment is up-get acclimated to it-more crime coming to a neighborhood near you!"
And before you know it will be coming to a neighborhood of the Brooks... be careful out there. Coyotes, drainage pipes, Coconut Road interchange threats and now... *gasp* criminals.... oh my!

This kid screwed up and he will suffer the consequences of his actions. No one should judge or pass judgement on anyone. We don't know what goes on in people's lives and what pushes them to do the things they do. I am sure his family is suffering for what he did. I recently got sideswiped and the driver took off, he was illegal and I had to pay to repair my car. Police couldn't find him. This illegal could be trying to provide for his family and couldn't risk getting caught. I know he shouldn't be here to begin with but one never knows. We need to be less judgemental and focus on making things better in this world.
