Ice cream social
Shy Wolf Sanctuary will benefit from the ice cream social and silent auction from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Hilton Naples & Towers, 5111 U.S. 41 N., Naples. Blood donors needed
Kenny Conidaris, a 15-year-old Estero resident, needs a bone marrow match to help cure his aplastic anemia. The Community Blood Center, an affiliate of the NCH Healthcare System, is holding a special blood and bone marrow drive from noon to 5:30 p.m. Monday at the NCH Support Services Center located at 2157 Pine Ridge Road (across the street from Home Depot), Naples.
Adult education

■ Barry Nicholls will teach “Diamonds and Gems,” from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for three Tuesdays beginning Tuesday at Barron Collier High School, 5600 Cougar Drive, Naples. Registration will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Surrendering your pets
Call or visit the Collier County Domestic Animal Services at 7610 Davis Blvd., Naples, if you have to surrender your pets because of a foreclosure or other personal reason. Do not leave them alone in an empty house. Anyone knowing about a pet in an abandoned home should call 252-7387.
Achievements and accolades
■ Morgan Betten has been named to the president’s list for achieving a 4.0 GPA during the summer 2008 semester at Tallahassee Community College. Betten is a 2008 graduate of Barron Collier High School.
■ Katie Burrows has been named the David Lawrence Center’s director service provider of the year.
■ Julie Marchetti of Estero has been selected as an inclusion ambassador by the Florida Developmental Disabilities Council Inc. for its statewide grass roots initiative.
■ Marlene Nichols of Sanibel caught a coded cubic zirconia tossed by Congress Jewelers during Sanibel Island’s holiday parade and won a diamond valued at $7,500.
■ Chico’s Charities Edison Festival of Light has been named a top 20 event in the Southeast by the Southeast Tourism Society.
