Soccer: FGCU men shut out by Syracuse, 3-0

The Florida Gulf Coast University men's soccer team was shut out by Syracuse, 3-0, in the last game of the 33rd annual Mayors Cup in Oneonta, N.Y., on Sunday.

The game was scoreless at the half. Syracuse's Robert Cavicchia had the shutout.

Tom Perevegyencev put the Orange ahead 1-0 at the 59:15 mark, then Syracuse scored twice in 51 seconds -- on Hansen Woodruff's goal off an assist from Raoul Meister, and Kyle Hall's unassisted goal.

The Eagles (1-2-1) will play their first official home game at the FGCU Soccer Complex on Friday against Seattle at 7 p.m.

    Since March 6, coyotes have been fingered in a string of attacks against dogs, cats and goats in Lee and Collier counties. Coyotes have killed three small dogs, injured three others, and caused a man who came into contact with the coyote’s saliva and a woman who was bitten by one to have rabies shots.
