Can you top this? Daily News’ new headquarters reaches milestone

The new headquarters for the Naples Daily News has reached a milestone. As a Bowman crane steered a white beam filled with signatures toward the front of the building Tuesday afternoon, employees looked on intently. They were there for a “topping-off” celebration, recognizing the placement of the last _ and highest _ beam for the project. Many decided to leave their mark by signing the beam, though it won’t be visible when the project is complete. Full story »

Daily News breaks ground on new newspaper headquarters

With a salute from the Gulf Coast High School color guard and the national anthem, the Naples Daily News began a groundbreaking for a new headquarters Thursday. The groundbreaking brought hundreds of people out to the new site off Immokalee Road in North Naples, including some community leaders, employees and corporate executives of the E.W. Antaramian not buying Daily News' Naples property

Downtown redevelopment guru Jack Antaramian has backed out of plans to purchase the Naples Daily News headquarters on Central Avenue. “I love the site. I want to redevelop it. But I have to do what's right for me,” said Antaramian, a key player in the redevelopment of Naples' Fifth Avenue South. He blames market conditions for his decision to cancel the contract.

Daily News, Antaramian agree on property deal

The ink is dry on a contract to sell the Naples Daily News’ building on Central Avenue. But the ink will keep running at the plant until the newspaper moves to its new headquarters off Immokalee Road. Scripps Howard Publishing Co., the Daily News’ parent company, has signed a contract to sell the more than 10 acres it owns in Naples to Antaramian Development LLC.

    Since March 6, coyotes have been fingered in a string of attacks against dogs, cats and goats in Lee and Collier counties. Coyotes have killed three small dogs, injured three others, and caused a man who came into contact with the coyote’s saliva and a woman who was bitten by one to have rabies shots.
