College football: BC grad Cruse is Bethany College's new TD reception king

Bethany College (W.Va.) coach Tim Weaver saw the potential when Matt Cruse was a freshman. Midway through Cruse’s first season, Weaver said he expected the Barron Collier High graduate to break the school’s touchdown reception record. The junior wide receiver did just that last Saturday, cruising 55 yards for his 19th touchdown reception in 21 career games. Full story »

In the second overtime Friday against Gulf Coast, Naples coach Bill Kramer called on senior Puma Nuredini to attempt a 37-yard field goal. With the score 20-20 and county bragging rights on the line, Nuredini showed no fear, calmly sending the kick through the uprights and winning the game. Full story »

Since March 6, coyotes have been fingered in a string of attacks against dogs, cats and goats in Lee and Collier counties. Coyotes have killed three small dogs, injured three others, and caused a man who came into contact with the coyote’s saliva and a woman who was bitten by one to have rabies shots.
