The Minnesota Twins today announced their 2009 spring training schedule featuring 19 home games at Hammond Stadium. The campaign marks the 19th season the Twins have trained at the Lee County Sports Complex in Fort Myers.

MLB: Red Sox release 2009 spring training schedule, ticket information

The Boston Red Sox today announced that tickets for all 2009 spring training home games at City of Palms Park in Fort Myers will go on sale on Saturday, Dec. 6. The club also released its 37-game spring schedule, which includes 18 games at City of Palms Park.

Dozens step up to the plate as Red Sox search for free land in south Lee

The Boston Red Sox request for free land already has nearly 50 people and companies interested. The request for proposals for land for a new Red Sox spring training complex has been on the Lee County Web site for a week, and 49 companies already have downloaded the documents.

Marlins can proceed with downtown ballpark

Estero leaders not weighing in on future site of Red Sox just yet

The Estero Council of Community Leaders is taking a “wait and see” approach to making a recommendation as to where Lee County should build the new spring training home of the Boston Red Sox. Terms of the deal signed Nov. 1 call for the project site to be located south of Daniels Parkway, north of Bonita Beach Road, east of U.S. 41 and west of County Road 951. Full story »

Lee County and the Boston Red Sox inched closer to a long-term lease Wednesday that could keep the team here for the next 50 years.
Red Sox executive vice president Mike Dee and others from the team worked on with county public works director Jim Lavender and others from the county is actually for 30 years with two possible 10-year extensions. The exact term and scope of the new deal make the process time-consuming, but Dee expressed confidence it will get done and the Sox will be in the new stadium before the 2012 deadline. Full story »
