A group of statues depicting children crossing over a koi pond leads visitors in to the children’s area of the Garden of Hope and Courage. The children’s garden is complete with musical instruments, a wishing well and soft rubber mulch for young visitors to play on.

Scents, or the lack there of, was a priority in choosing plants for the Garden of Hope and Courage. Some people with medical conditions, or those undergoing treatments such as chemotherapy, are especially sensitive to smells. An abundance of fragrance could make them nauseous, so most of the plants and flowers in the garden have little to no fragrance.

The Garden of Hope and Courage was created on the southeast corner of Naples Community Hospital campus as a place for those under the hospital’s care to visit and enjoy the outdoors. Special attention was given to designing the garden to make it accessible for those in wheelchairs and with IV stands.
