Old Bonita Historic Walk
Byron Liles walks participants of the "Old Bonita Historic Walk" through parts of Bonita Springs on Saturday, March 29, 2008. The walk was hosted by the Bonita Springs Historical Society. Liles tells his first hand experiences of living in Bonita during the 1940’s.

Byron Liles stops during the "Old Bonita Historic Walk" began being the Liles Hotel next to the Imperial River to explain what life was line on the river during the 1940’s. The Bonita Springs Historical Society had around 75 guests sign up for the half day tour and picnic lunch around the historical district of Bonita Springs on Saturday, March 29, 2008.

This water tower was originally used to store water taken out of a well located at the home of Isadorah Hermann at the northwest corner of Old 41 and Bonita Beach Road. One of many that we built in the 1940’s, this one was located where the band shell sits and was later relocated to Riverside Park just outside of the Liles Hotel by the City of Bonita Spring to help preserve the history of Bonita. This was one of many structures covered by the Bonita Springs Historical Society "Old Bonita Historic Walk" on Saturday, March 29, 2008.

The Liles Hotel, built in 1927, sits just north of the band shell in Riverside Park in Bonita Springs on Old 41. The Bonita Springs Historical Society hosted an "Old Bonita Historic Walk" which began and ended at the historical Liles Hotel on Saturday, March 29, 2008. Byron Liles was the guest speaker and guided the tour though the neighborhood to historical building while telling his recollection of the community during the 1940’s and 50’s.
