Description: This spectacular resort, built alongside the Gulf of Mexico, has some of the oldest trees in the area scattered throughout its layout. The design features generous, tree-lined fairways and the undulating, medium-sized greens. The 18-hole "Naples Beach" course at the Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club facility in Naples, Florida features 6,488 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 71.7 and it has a slope rating of 134 on Bermuda grass. Designed by Ron Garl, the Naples Beach golf course opened in 1930. There are lakes that come into play on six holes, including #3, a 173-yard, par 3, which will test of your shotmaking skills with a shot over water. The Valley of Sin on hole #12 will remind you of the green on #18 on the Old Course at St. Andrews. The signature hole is #18, a 398-yard, par 4, requiring your approach shot over water to a well-bunkered green. Hedy Lamarr played golf here, as well as Patty Berg in her prime. An apocryphal story has it that a young Jack Nicklaus broke 40 for nine holes for the first time on this course. Mark Mahannah redesigned the original holes in 1953, followed by Ron Garl in 1979.
