This is insane. The guy has a foreign name and you're all wetting your pants. It's just a name; just because it's foreign some of you equate it with another faith.

The guy with the good old American name has caused this country to go into a deep spiral that we're having a hard time pulling out of.

McCain will bring more of the same, so I'm all for Obama/Biden in '08.

SFGrp, yes it's his middle name, but how come no one is using Joe Biden's middle name? Let's face it, it's because the GOP thinks that some people will hear "Hussein" and tremble in fear. It's just a name. I guess the Republicans don't think their constituents are very smart if they have to resort to those tactics.

Also, "Scotch" is a distilled liquor, and "Protestant" is a religion.

I think you mean that McCain is Scottish-Irish, which he is.

Horrific story, horrific crime.

I am only sorry that he got to live another 15 years: his little victims didn't get that chance.

To okay:

Racist much?

You have three people who robbed a person, led law enforcement all over South Florida then ran out of gas (there's plenty of fodder for commentary right there!) yet all you can do is make assumptions about the victim?

Your logic is a bit screwy.

I guess no one actually read the article. The Humane Society of Collier is private; cabbagepalm, "you" don't pay for anything.

popoff, you are obviously posting because you need the attention. Pathetic.

Dr. Zecchino, your overuse of unnecessary puncuation makes it difficult to sort through your posts, but what I did gather is that you claim that it is propaganda that women are portrayed as inherently less violent than men.

I don't believe it for a minute. What are your sources?

And I noticed that you didn't post a comment on the article appearing on the same page as this one that reported that a man killed his elderly mother (in a most brutal fashion). But I guess that would refute your claims, yes?

Rockford Grad's posts are a complete waste of space.

What an awful story; that poor woman.

eaglebeak, your story was frightening, as well.

jinjin, Sammie makes some valid points and calling her "naive" actually shows naivete on your part. You are trusting in information provided by people who are either a) emotionally distraught because they are giving up their pet, or b), are just in a hurry to get rid of an unwanted pet. In both cases, the information you get from them may not be accurate; do you think they want to be "tracked" in your software?

Also, you just give us a blanket statement as told to you by DAS. What is the percentage of increased surrenders originating in Lee County as opposed to Lee County surrenders prior to LCAS' new policy? Give us some factual data to support your assertions. And let's face it, the bulk of increased surrenders at DAS is due to Collier's foreclosures. People here are losing their homes as well.

Also, to really help solve the problem of animal overpopulation and shelter-based killing of unwanted pets, it takes inter-agency cooperation. Nothing can be done in Collier OR in Lee without working with the other agency. Your slamming LCAS is actually a huge hindrance in solving the massive problems that both agencies face.

You say you are making positive changes at DAS; what are they? I have heard of none.
You and your “welfarists” (you are using the term quite incorrectly) have a lot of work to do in your own backyard before you start blaming others.
