You guys are a bunch of freeloaders! Shame on you!!! I was a single mom with 3 small children ..... in my days I had an 11-3/4 percent fixed interest mortgage... I was never late .....struggled,sure, never took a hand out, no government assistance.... I managed to raise my children ... but you know? years went by, I sold that house.....with all the equity after paying faithfully....I was able to purchase my lovely home here in Naples.....free and clear.... 6 years ago.... stop kidding yourselves... you'll be my age before you know it... I never expected a red cent from nobody... I just worked hard and paid all my bills. If anybody is laughing now it should be me.... you are all clowns..... time for you to take an inner look, and do something about it!!!

Sadly, my husband has suffered a few strokes and each stroke affected his brain function. He suffered his latest stroke last July and has been diagnosed with Dementia....He is bedridden but he is at home where he belongs. Some days his mind is 90% there, which is great for him, yet at times he acts quite strange. It has caused a tremendous burden on our family, and how sad that we cannot share simple things like we used to. Unless you go through a similar experience you have no way of knowing what is really, really like. I wished something would've been done 2 decades ago when he had his first stroke.

My Lord, when my husband and I bought our 2nd home the interest rate in those days was a whopping 14 percent...let me see...this was around 1980.....through much diligence and good credit history, FHA approved us for a special grant at a rate of 11-3/4 percent interest. We paid faithfully and worked extremely hard. We lived within our means, a little difficulty here and there on occasion, but we made it. So it is very difficult for me to understand today's foreclosures.....

How about empty lots? Next to my home is an empty lot that for the 5-1/2 years I've been in this house noone has done anything to all the overgrowth. It is too close for comfort....They should make the owners of the empty lots responsible for maintaining the lot. Bad enough is an overgrown lawn, but those empty lots are more like a jungle.....a very thick growth at least 10 feet high. Very, very dangerous. Plus on occasion I've seen men walking right through it unto my backyard and many things have disappeared from my patio, including numerous animals, open gates, even a horse was stolen.

Over the years I have worked extremely hard to insure my mortgage payments were my Number One priority. I always did my own math and financial calculations....I never trusted anybody telling me "approximates" of what the payments may be. I simply stayed within my budget....I still aimed high yet I knew exactly that I was capable of handling all the payments. So, add me to your list of "have no sympathy for this stupid woman"... she has done us all a great deal of harm with her greed. A "home" for most of us is just that..."a home"....home sweet home, where one comes every day after a hard day's work... to raise a family in, to watch the kids grow up, to plant flowers, to build memories in....for that purpose, noone needs to own three!!!!

What's your interest, BlueTongued, indeed, you must have some type of interest!!!! I LOVE THE ESTATES.... wouldn't wanna live anywhere else, but driving long distances just to fetch supplies is beyond reasoning. Don't give me the "it's the traffic" thingy again. That doesn't wash anymore with us here in the Estates. That's just being ludicrous. I love the Estates and hate to spend so much time away from my "home sweet home" just driving all the way to the city to buy groceries and supplies. It is needed, it is quite necessary, and it is time!!!

Noone loves the Estates as much as I do, yet I must say it is extremely difficult to commute great distances just to buy the essentials we all need. It seems we are being "penalized" and I can't understand the reasoning behind the "traffic" issue when I must travel clear through to the city to buy groceries. Wouldn't a conveniently located shopping center amid the Golden Gate Estates alleviate my commute as well as most of the residents of Golden Gate Estates? Traffic is definitely not the problem....and I suspect selfish interest of some individuals.... I just wish they hurry and get the stores built already.....enough with this nonsense back and forth!

I find it quite odd that OJ would even consider doing what he did, knowing the consequences of this action. Perhaps there was something in that "memorabilia" that he just had to "retrieve" at any cost for whatever reason, perhaps even some "incriminating" ..... argh ..... sorry folks, I watch too many Monk shows, but like I said, very, very weird. I am really glad he was convicted.

Something in the article didn't read right.....anyhow, that is why I live in the Estates. I do hope I won't ever have to deal with the water dept. again.
