Mike Scott is a dunce and an embarrassment to Lee County. The only ones defending his words are the white crackers. Yes, non-anglos beware when you enter Lee county.

Why does everyone keep calling it the $700B bailout when it is now a LOT more? I didn't know pork could be so sweet.

Wow, I am surprised by how few comments this article has generated, compared to other stories, e.g., some guy choking his GF got more postings. People should be up in arms and contacting their senators to stop the bailout until more information is available. This whole process is eerily similar to the Bush administration's run up to the Iraq war...very little data, no oversight, trust him to know what is best for the country. And look at the mess we're in there.

Boulderbilly, thank you! Makes me want to vote for McCain just for the entertainment factor he'll provide over the next 4 years. Just kidding. Despite the comments about Obama's lack of experience and how it will get us into trouble, I ask: do you think George Bush's experience was helpful?

Too bad the county didn't have the foresight to acquire the land formerly occupied by the Vanderbilt Inn. They could have built a garage there that would have allowed more access without overcrowding Delnor-Wiggins. Unfortunately, their greed is coming back to bite the tax payers.

Hmmm, now might be the time to sell and get out of SW FL. With offshore drilling and now the soon to be extinct wildlife, what will be left of paradise? Unless of course you like walking the beaches teeming with oil globs and dead manatees.

What an outrage! And the tax burden continues on the backs of the less fortunate. Lemme, your response is typical of the ignorant and uninformed masses. The Republicans are not entirely to blame nor are the Democrats. They both share the blame equally and it's up to both parties to fix it.

Our neighbors decided it was okay to use our water and electric (while we were up north) to build their house. We would have been okay with that had they asked first. But when confronted with it, they denied it was happening. When we caught them red-handed, they claimed ignorance. They never apologized nor did they offer to pay a penny. They did the same thing with another neighbor when they were no longer able to use our utilities free of charge.
