SOAMI,
Every time we sell or lease a bit of US property we decrease our sovereignty and increase national security risks. Most of our public officials know this, but don't appear to care too much about it. Our hired help in government seems more interested in melding our country into a huge continental trade/political bloc than maintaining our freedom and independence. Start thinking of the UN as your daddy rather than Uncle Sam.

boulderbilly,
That's a sad comment on our public education system.

DinNaples,
Huh? Where was I talking about bailout? I don't approve of a bailout for any company or of government subsidies. I think a business should succeed on its own merits or fail.

rationalman,
I would have to disagree with the point on working for big companies. How they treat their employees is dependent on management and/or the owners.
Wal-Mart use to be a good place to work until Sam Walton became ill and died. Germain Lincoln Mercury was a more employee friendly place when Bob Sr. was running than after Bob Jr. when he took over.
It's greed, dishonestly, and lack of consideration that ruins it for the workers in any company, large or small. Moreover, when a business places more importance on money rather than people, not only do the workers suffer for it, but the customers as well.

Sorry, I made the same mistake again, posting while the husband was logged in.

bossman1,
The post in yesterday's letters credited to Neal was an error on my part. He was still logged in when I typed and posted the comment. I didn't catch the error until after it was posted.
As far as Neal goes his opinions, whether I agree or disagree, are his own, and engaging him in insults is folly. He excels in the art of argument.

bossman1,
First you have to explain my "preceived failures" of the military. And secondly, how I solely blamed Clinton for them.
I'll give the possibility that I may have been less than specific at times in reference to problems during the Clinton administration, singling out Clinton as the figurehead to bear the brunt of responsibility. Then again, putting it into the light of him being the Commander-in-Chief of the military, he is ultimately responsible for all his subordinates and their actions.
In the same note, Bush, and all the other presidents before him, can be held responsible for the actions of the military. Contrary to what I use to believe, the president has near unlimited military powers; however, according to the War Powers Act, the Commander-in-Chief has 90 days after initiation of action to provide justification for the same, and gives Congress an opportunity to act on such action. Did Congress do anything to stop or restrict military actions in Afghanistan and Iraq? No.
Regarding my description of communism, the above statements on the ten planks of communism wasn't made by me. Karl Marx is credited for them. I just merely quoted them. And the fourteen signposts are directly from Carroll and Djordjevich. They do not describe capitalism. What they define are some common events that occur when a government degenerates into totalitarianism. Moreover, capitalism is an economic system not a form of government, nor is it solely exclusive to free societies. China, which is a communist nation, during the past several years has experimented in capitalism.
