Who in their right mind can vote for a man with a Muslim background and his middle name is Hussein? All I think of is Hussein & the war. Bush might have messed things up, but that doesn't mean McCain will do the same. Not a proud Republican, but I have to vote for the lesser of two evils!
Iraq-funny the news doesn't report all the good being done over there, schools being built, woman getting their rights back. A friend did a tour and she told me how empty her ER was, which is great! My brother just got back from his 3rd tour and my sister can't wait to go!Not to mention my issues with
Abortions, school choice vouchers, taxes, stem cells, etc..........
I figure as a middle class legal English speaking Caucasian, I loose either way. The schools are too run down, so I pay taxes, yet homeschool.Illegals(or boaters who get an automatic)took my college scholarships and they are now taking my sons S.S for disability! Who ever wins, I did my part and waited in line for an hour to vote today!

This is the very reason my Husband and I have to set aside our pride and apply for financial aid. I love the education and spiritual growth my two oldest children have recieved from First Baptist Academy the last 7 years! It truly is one big family!! Since our youngest son was diagnoised with Autism 2 years ago, we Thank God everyday for the scholarships FBA provides and the Friends of the Lions who donate!God Bless you all.

Punishment was a terrible word to use! There are no punishments in ABA therapy. Maybe age appropriate time-outs from play, but they use positive reinforcers(play time, favorite foods,toys,etc...)never punishment. Punishment does an Autistic child absolutely no good. They do not understand. My son at 4years old has been tought that having your favorite thing taken away for bad behavior is not fun. That is about his extreme punishment. He always says "I want make happy" :) My son attended Eden last summer on a scholarship from the Wine Festival. We loved it. His therapy was drop off services, but I was able to stay or drop in whenever I wanted unannounced. I think the editor just worded the statement made, incorrectly. If I were as rich as some in Naples, I would love for my son to attend full time!

This article is about an elderly abused woman. Why does the CCSO always have to be bashed? Grow up!

Also, Hunter was told to keep it under 200million and he did. So low he forgot to ask for a pay raise for the current deputies.
2 of 2 people thought this was a good comment.

You guys are so ignorant! The money was not asked to line Hunters pockets! A starting pay for a deputy is 36,000. Can you live on that in Naples? A 12% increase only takes them to 40,000. Can you live on that? How are they supposed to qualify for a 400,000 house in Naples on 40? And as for a private........do you know of any state that starts their pay that low with cost of living this high? I do not see anyone complaining about the nursing industry getting 25-55 and hr. I think that anytime people see Hunter do anything, they like to jump on the wagon and complain. Each individual deputy will not even see a 12% raise. It was budget overall. Right now they will take anything.....you know to put a roof over their childrens head, food and clothing! My husband is looking to relocate after 8yrs. because of pay and rising cost. He has been here since the 70's. Why should we be punished and forced out! I feel sorry for you guys, when Hunter is unable to fill positions and there is none to keep you and your family safe!

My husband just took a week long course on Terrorism. They have proven facts that "cell groups" and terrorists" are trying to get into our country through Mexico. WE NEED tighter security not another 9/11.
If someone wants to come here for a better life, so be it, but do it the legal way.
If you actually study the new proposed law and not skim through it. It really is not that bad. It is not telling people not to come here. Just do it legal and it is allowing the people who are already here immidiate citizenship instead of 6yr or longer. Why is that so bad? We don't even know what the fine is? If they paid a fine, became legal..........in the long run, would'nt they get better pay? And why is it so hard to learn english if it becomes manditory. My children are learnig Spanish....I always though it was a plus to know two languages.

Well it looks as though we can argue this all day. I have my opinion and you have yours. Good thing we are in the US to speak them.
I am not some rich spoiled kid who got lucky!I know what hard labor is and have had 1st hand experience up north as tlc stated. My brother and sister and I got to spend our summers in the fields picking. It is the worst labor I wish on noone. But, I do have relatives who don't mind doing it up north because it puts food on their tables.
I know people who have worked in factories for generations, who are also being pushed out of their jobs because illigals will do it for less. Both the owners and illigals need to be punished.
Forget about food for a minute............if I got pulled over for speeding, I would rather see me get a ticket and be documented in the system so the US knows if their is a crazy road rager on the street or if a citizen commits a harsher act, I would like to know they were documented for the saftey of my children. That is why we need them documented, for our saftey, what saftey we have left.

As a wife of a YRD officer and a mother of a child with special needs I just wanted to make a few comments. I was afraid to read this blog because every time the CCSO is in the news it is always negative with negative comments. So far not too bad. For 2 years my son has been in the public school system getting every kind of help and therapy we have requested. We were prepared to have attorneys to fight for his right, but it was not needed, so I have a hard time believing this family could not get a behavior plan set up at an IEP meeting, but if it is true I hope they now get the help he needs. Remember most ESE students rely on routine and more then likely that was thrown off by something that day.My son is almost 5 and when he gets into one of his rages, he is like a grown man. He has busted lips, noses, bitten, scratched(mainly all at home). Many things we are not proud of, but are working on very closely with the school. The teachers and aides are trained in different techniques, but they can only last so long. It gets tiring and it is much easier and safer to restrain the student for all involved. It is very heartbreaking to see your own child restrained, but you have to do what is best. Once the child calms down all is usually forgiven and the child still likes their teacher/parent and they move on. Since my sons diagnosis two years ago, my husband has been a great advocate to the deputies in YRD in training how to handle these cases and they do have "calming"approaches first. This child was not treated like a dog, he was just restrained from hurting others and himself until his fit passed. I can't imagine my son at 16 and the strength he will have.
